What really bothers me is when you buy something new, and someone asks what you paid for it. I usually just say "100 million thousand dollars". LOL.

I was blindsided by that to say the least and once he finally answered I followed up with the tata's question out of curiosity

Never really thought why, I guess just out of curiosity. But point taken by the rest of the posts, people are way too easily offended...I will keep on asking

In my mind asking someone how many acres they have, or how many cows do you have, is like asking how much money is in your bank account. I think it's rude. What do ya'll say? How do you answer that without being rude? Who agrees?
I agree with you. It's our family business. We are all involved to some degree in ownership and financially. I personally do not like to discuss numbers. A lot of the time I just say "a few sections" and "enough livestock to keep us busy full time".
I think it's rude to ask how many acres you have.
