Never met a rancher that didn't mind telling...Mexican or Texan...in fact most boast about it.

        I can see that.

Kinda like folks asking what kind of truck you have, and if it's lifted. LOL.

I've never owned land aside from the property I live on (2.5 acres was the most I've had so far, all around the house) so I wouldn't be offended, but if ranching or farming were my business, it might be different. Probably would.

My father owns some land and he's all to happy to tell people how many acres he has LOL He worked very hard and saved diligently to acquire that land so I don't blame him, but I can see how it might rub some people the wrong way.

On a related note, I do wish my dad would quit telling people how much (or little, depending on your perspective) land he has. Everybody and their brother (i.e. family) thinks they're going to get to hunt on it. WRONG.

Well maybe it's not as big of deal as I think. I was brought up to never ask and I guess the way he did just rubbed me the wrong way.

It is the way you were raised, nothing wrong with it.

Some of the old school ranchers respond to the question with a question - "how much money do you have? " . Seems to get the point across quite well.

Never had a problem on that one, always proud to tell folks I have 4 acres until I have to mow all of it. Had 5 head of cattle on it once, sold em!

I was blindsided by that to say the least and once he finally answered I followed up with the tata's question out of curiosity
I can judge tatas real good but not so much land [emoji2]

Now, if somebody is just talking about their weekend place - not where they are making their living - it's different. (in my way of thinking anyway)

Maybe I'm old school too. I was told as a youngster that asking someone how much land they had was the equivalent of asking them how much money they made, how much money they had, or how good their wife was in the sack. I think it depends on the circumstances, how long you have known someone, etc. - But if you just met someone I think it's rude to ask. I don't ask, and if asked I respond by asking them how good their wife is in the sack.

People ask me all the time how much land we live on.

                          Doesn't bother me one bit.

I do make sure to say I married into it, I am by no means wealthy. They get this look like, YOU have land?!?! I am 29 and look about 21 tops

yeah, "oh you own land? thats pretty cool! how much?!"

"how does your wife like sex?"

                            NO correlation.

That is the very next question I get, can I come hunt?!?!

Nope sorry, the hunting part is not mine. You want to ask my grandma?!?!

She might a be a little partial to just me hunting it, GL

I have acers everywhere. My knee, neck, back are all acers. Among friends is different but a stranger you just met is different.
