I was just in a converstaion with a guy and he ask me how many acres I have. I guess I'm a little old school. In my mind asking someone how many acres they have, or how many cows do you have, is like asking how much money is in your bank account. I think it's rude. What do ya'll say? How do you answer that without being rude? Who agrees?

I also was taught growing up that asking a rancher how big his place was or how many head of cattle he owned was rude and nosey. That has stuck with me. Now, if somebody is just talking about their weekend place - not where they are making their living - it's different. (in my way of thinking anyway)

It's not anything I thought anyone would find offensive. I've never really given it a thought. I only have 5 acres but my place is surrounded by much larger places. I have asked a couple of my neighbors how large their places are just out of curiosity. I certainly never meant to offend and they did not seem offended.
