Chiggers BAD! Need help

A few weeks ago I got into them bad bad...like I stopped counting at 200 bites bad. I tried everything in the book and couldn't stop the itch. My last resort was a thing I saw online in one place - Vicks vaporub mixed with table salt. I mixed a tablespoon of salt in about a half bottle of vaporub then put it on every single bite. It burned for an hour or so, but it was a good burn! After that I had no problems at all with the itching. I thought maybe it was just a coincidence and I was out of my prime time itching stage when I put it on. Well, just this morning I had two more and put that stuff on them, forgot I even had them until this thread!
Also, wash EVERYTHING. Change your sheets every night for 3 or 4 days. Don't wear the same jeans without washing. Get in the shower right after possibly being exposed to them if you can. Etc etc

That ought to work the same but I just used table salt. We went out walking today in the pasture and I have two more on my ankles, they're in the 'good burn' stage right now with the vaporub. Those suckers got past my jeans tucked into my boots AND sulfer powder! Which got me to thinking earlier, I wonder how long they can hang out inside a boot cause that's the only thing I wear that isn't washed daily now...
