That's what I do. I looked up B1 on the information net and there are no side effects. It says "vital for converting food into energy". Now with that being said, for that to occur with me, I'll need to take 3 a day. Lol

Don't laugh.....but the nurse practitioner at my plant told me about some stuff that works really well to help control the itching. It's call Vagicaine......you can get it at WalMart. It's feminine itch creme and it has 3 times the active ingrediate of the others (ChiggerX, ect.) I was skeptical, but it really works. Nothing will completely get rid of the itch, but this stuff really knocks in down a few levels.

Gentlemen for years now I have been dusting myself down with corn starch. WORKS everytime! I pour corn starch into a sock enough to where sock is about the size of baseball. Just swing sock against you, then hit your jeans boots and pull pants legs up and dust again before taking off into woods. I keep sock in baggy in truck. But all that does not help after you gottem.

I had a serious case a few weeks ago, and what stopped the itching the best was Ambesol. Normally you use it for tooth aches, but it's an analgesic, and stopped the itch better than any anti itch cream I tried.

Man I am torn up and this is week two. I have holes all on my skin. I am so bad about scratching.

                      Chiggers are the devil!

I'm kinda late to this party, but I spray my lower extremities with
                        permethrin (clothing). I
may still get one but more likely, mosquito bites. Benadryl gel seems to work best for
                        itching. anything with
                        benzocaine gives me a
                        severe case of eczema
                        that is worse than any
bite. clear painful blisters on hands and
                        sometimes feet.

Ha, I don't care how well it works. I would take a chigger infestation on my boys before I would ever step foot into a pharmacy and buy a tube. I doubt my wife would appreciate me sending her in to buy it for me either...lol

I use bleach on a washcloth in the shower. Works good for me

4 weeks ago, I got tore up. Was not planning on getting off the trail, but walked about a 1/2 mile across a grassy field and along a creek bed. Boots and pants, but no bug spray and no pant leg seal.

I am just now better, where the last of the bites on the back of my legs are not longer itchy. That was about 25 days of agony. I sit at a PC all day, which gives you ample time to think about how much your legs itch.

Here is one photo of the side of my leg, boot high. If felt like every day there were new bites, but that is just the nature of the size of the holes and how quickly they react and infect.

I now ALWAYS wear knee high compression socks and a shot of 100% deet.

Having been the victim of them many times, prevetion is the best medicine. Dust your boots/pant legs with powdered sulfur that can be found at most garden/hardware stores. Also wipe down your ankles and legs with rubbing alcohol when you get back from the woods.

Now that you already have the bites, youre in for an miserable week. Steriod shot would be best if its driving you crazy. ChiggerEX or Calamine lotion also helps the symptoms.
or douse yourself with gasoline and set fire to yourself.

Not sure why but they always get me in the groin. Absolute misery.

I now do the following for early season hunts or time outside.
                                • change immediately when i come in
                                • use a mixture of bleach and water to wipe down
                                • either clean or bag clothes that i've worn immediately
                                • shower
                                • I also pay special attention to spray deet heavily in the areas that i know they'll come in. Booth seems, exposed legs, waist.

I've always heard they go to the heated areas . . . . seems like they get me on my feet, behind my knees and in my special parts.
