If you have showered, they are gone. Careful with your dirty infested clothes though, wash those in hot water.

        Just an old wives tale.

Nail polish will also dry out the bite in my opinion. I have had them numerous times and the times when the bites just wouldn't go away, clear nail polish always helped. Other than that, just have to stick it out and deal with it. You'll get use to that itching after a few days! The hottest water you can stand will always soothe the itch while you're in the water. Nice after a long day of itching like crazy.

Whatever you do, don't scratch them. That will keep the bite around longer and just itch even more. Kind of like poison ivy!

Contrary to popular belief, by the time you get the itchy red spot the chigger is already gone. They do not burrow under the skin. They are kinda like a tick. They latch on, get their fill, then drop off. You probably got rid of them with the first shower. The only thing you can do is try to ease the itching. There are many old home remidies but the best thing to do it probably get an over the counter anti-itch/insect bite cream or gel. You just gotta ride it out. And yes it sucks.

My dad always took a bleach bath when he got into chiggers from fishing or something. I used to do the same when I was a kid.

Chiggers are tiny mites that attach themselves to humans who walk through infested vegetation. Most chigger bites occur in thin-skinned areas of the body like the ankles, waist, groin, armpits, and backs of knees. Although many people...

Some of you boys are so dense it scares me. We already covered this topic last week.

There is no chigger under your skin. Nor eggs. There never was. There never will be. You got bit. The itch is caused by your body's reaction to the larvae's saliva. Larvae don't lay eggs. They just feed.

Anti-itch ointment might soothe the pain some, but time is the best medicine.

I feel your pain! Chiggers are from hell. When you are itching the damage has already been done. Ive used Goldbond Rapid Relief lotion with moderate success. Chiggers are a good reason to move from Texas.....at least for the summer. They hate cold weather and extreme heat. During feeding, the chigger will inject a digestive enzyme into the skin to dissolve the tissue. It is this liquified tissue that the chigger will feed on. Not a nice critter. I use sulpher in a sock, and apply Deet, They still get me. Ive got about 5 injections right now. Make sure you spray your ankles, behind knees real well and your waist line. They like those areas. good luck!

Kind of like a queen bee, if you get rid of the head chigger in charge the colony will die.

On 2nd thought I don't think it's politically correct to call them chiggers anymore, chegros may work idk. Just trying to avoid the pc police

I know you can use Lye soap when you come in from being in them and the Lye soap works pretty good to keep them from getting you to bad but I know you have already been in them and it is too late this time.

Take three B1 pills prior to going outdoors and you won't get chiggers or ticks. My physician turned me onto this years ago, and it works without fail. It will last all day or until you shower. I realize that there will be skeptics, but just try it and you will be amazed at how well it works.
