Father and I are looking for 100-185 acres marble falls, burnet with two acres for separate homesites and the rest bow hunting. It's fun to look but haven't found the gem yet

When I get some time, I'll start a thread about expenses.....
For now, I'll just say, we have invested or committed to spend about as much as we spent on the land and it's only been about a month.......
You are right about expenses, time, gas, and all the advils!
Tractor with front loader and bush-hog are on my next list of purchase. Then I can do everything! Mostly by hand, chainsaw, my truck and tow straps! Lol

We bought 35 acres in Brown county 5 years ago. Already had a beat up single wide with water electric and septic in place. That saved me a lot of cash. It is a lot of money just to keep the place up but I love my kids having a place to go on the weekends. The country lifestyle is disappearing quickly.

My parents bought two tracts east of Dallas in 2007. One is just over 100 acres of 100% wooded bottomland and the other is 50 acres of mixed upland pasture/cedar. We started out with nothing on the larger place and just an old barn and water/electric at the gate of the smaller one. Now we have a nice little cabin on the smaller place and some roads, blinds and a couple of feeders on the larger place. Land takes a lot of money and time to maintain but owning it is a great feeling (according to Dad).Last edited by 30-30; 04-21-2013, 11:16 AM.

We have 10 acres out side Madisonville that we bought 2 years ago. Raw timber land with deer running through it. Financed on a 15 yr note and payment is less than half of my wife's truck payment. Paid that off this month so will be payin that toward the property to have it paid in 5 more yrs. Wanted to buy while we are young to have later on when we really have the $ to put into it. For now I will get it fenced by the end of the summer and hunt it until we do something like a cabin or finish out a metal building.Last edited by captainsling; 04-21-2013, 11:33 AM.

I have 1850 plus a few acres. I inherited 100 acres and bought the rest on my own. Three of the places have weekend homes. Six seperate places. The smallest is 20 acres where I live which is inside the city limits. It's like living in the country. I'm considering selling some of the smaller places and adding on to the bigger ones. Keeping up with four homes is a pain. It was fun when I was younger and full of **** and vinegar. It's also a pain deciding where to hunt.

We sold 38 acres. nothing like owning own place but with it being small the hunting can change drastically in a few years. neighbors effect you a lot. we put the money aside and will buy more when the times right/have more money we wont buy anything under 100, prefer 150-200 unless itz a place were gonna live on primarily. then we want aleast same size we had. problem was that was in Centerville and couldn't live there. no work.

Get me on that lease with you and I'll be able to keep my sanity for a while longer.
