Texas will always have ducks but with warmer winters and poor duck production I suspect we’ll only continue to see a downward trend. I anticipate a 45 day season and a 3 or 4 bird limit in the near future as production continues to struggle and pressure from so many hunters continues to climb. Haven’t seen that since I started with Dad in the 90’s but if it’ll trim the fat and help the resource I’m all for it👍
Our season opens next Saturday. Got some decoys out today. Glad that’s over with. 66 dz. at one spot and 50 dz at another.

Wish it was cooler but think this cool down next week will help some. There’s some ducks around and actually some decent water up here, but we need more rain to keep it decent and MUCH cooler weather. They’ll not stay long with pressure and falling water.

I’m with you on a shortened season and bag limits until breeding conditions improve!

Scouting yesterday showed 2 ducks on the entire 400 acres so we had low expectations but figured we would see if all the hunters around us would stir the birds up.

finished with 18 between 4 of us and the first duck of the morning was a pretty canvasback that’s going on someone’s wall!

glad we have it a whirl!

We were up in Kansas this week deer hunting and it was the least amount of birds I've seen up there at this time in the last five years.

Was up there as well. Least amount of ducks I have ever seen for that time of year. Just no cold weather yet. Only seen one new batch of geese push down that week with just a few snows.

                            Appreciate the recommendation sir!

hammered them with Oyster bayou outfitters this morning and we probably didn’t hunt 2-3 miles away from our normal spots. Solid mixed bag and shot a couple fulvous whistlers which is a first for me.

Glad it worked out. I have killed some birds right where you are before. They do their best to put people on birds!

Southern wings outfitters has been hammering the birds. They have a fb page or you can pm me and I'll give you one of the guides numbers. The owner is on here as byronf I think.

Nevermind, just saw the post from today.

cousin and I had a decent shoot the other day on in the woods. Should have killed several more but we shot like crap. I always rush my first shot when hunting in tight woods. Hole about the size of a large living room with 60'+ trees all the way around it makes things happen fast.
