So, are they just supposed to take your word for it that you do indeed have insurance???

You should be mad at yourself for not having your insurance card in the car!!!!

      Yep they should .
OR run it and find out like they should.
Man I didn't know I was the only one on here that ever went over the speed limit.
Guess arguing is how some of y'all pass the day.

It's up to whatever Judge you get, JP, Municipal or whatever.

I've had two traffic tickets dismissed in my lifetime and both were because the tickets were not filled out properly.

I would contact the office of the Judge you are supposed to appear before and let them know that the information on the traffic ticket is incorrect and see what they say.

I generally will try to run a vehicle tag before I light them up so I know before the stop if the vehicle has a "hit" for a warrant for someone associated with that vehicle.
In doing so, I can often (but not always) determine if the vehicle has current coverage. If it does, then I don't generally ask the driver for proof since I already have it.
Insurance companies are required to upload their information to the state every Friday. So if you buy a policy on Monday and I stop you on Tuesday, my computer may not be able to confirm coverage. If you have the proof of insurance card with you - you're good to go, regardless of the status displayed on my computer.

            No arguing here!

Do you really believe that he stopped you, and wrote you tickets, and never ran your license plate?????

And you are not the only one to go over the speed limit or not have proof of insurance in your car, just one of the many nowadays who get caught, and then want to whine on the internet about how much it inconveniences you to take care of it!

Sorry, that's how I see it.

            Bye,

            Bisch

Assuming the Officer that stopped you had computer in his car, the insurance coverage obviously showed "unconfirmed" when he ran your tag. Had it showed "confirmed" he would not have issued you a citation.

I'm not disputing that you probably had current coverage, but if the Officer's computer was unable to confirm it and you did not have current proof with you, then he was justified in writing the citation.

Have you contacted the court? Very possibly may be able to fax or email them current proof of insurance to have that portion of the citation dismissed. Its up to the court to decide if you can do that or have to appear in person with proof, but I'd give it a shot and call them.

                  Let's see:

                  1. You admit that you were speeding.

                  2. You admit that you did not have proof of insurance in your car.

                  3. You are on an internet forum whining about how much that inconveniences you, and how THEY should have done something different.

Nope! My eyesight is just fine!

That one always kills me. Can't tell you how man times I've heard "but I was passing that car". A lot of people truly believe that as long as you are passing someone you can go however fast you want. No more speed limit lol.

Lol absolutely. Cops should be pulling people over and giving them money to pay society back for how horrible we all are and all of our many mistakes....

So what were you driving and what did he list for your plates vs the actual plates? How much different is the wrong vehicle and "not even close" on the plates?

I USED to get a lot of speeding tickets - simple fix - spend the money on an Escort Passport 9500ix - I haven't had a ticket in 4 years and I haven't changed my driving habits

I can see how his F might have looked like an E if he was a sloppy writer, but that;s is wild that he would have gotten every number/letter of your plate wrong. Usually they are looking at the plate when they write it down.
