2024 Workout Accountability Thread!

    I've been doing modified workouts when I'm at the ranch. Well, I found a great little gym in Madisonville and I love it. Had a great workout yesterday, crushing legs and shoulders. I also finally found an app that I like. It's called STRONG.

    Today is Arms, Back and Chest. It's my toughest workout of the week in the new format I'm hitting. Last week I was so sore I had to hold my toothbrush in place and swing my head around just to brush my teeth.

    I've also added a 1mile warm-up to the beginning of my workout. I don't run the whole thing yet, but so far, so good.

      Very "meh" Back and Bi's workout from a calories standpoint but solid pump.

      My right brachioradialis is 100% still torn from the feel of things..... Going to notch up the PT again and keep things easy on the free weights and really focus on form.

      Cook off tonight so hopefully I don't drink my calories through the roof.....

        I did a little birthday run through west campus at A&M this morning. 54 minutes (5.2 miles) to celebrate (or maybe fight off) my new milestone!

        Having a little brunch (including breakfast tacos, homemade sourdough cinnamon rolls and mimosas) with the kids/grandkids and then we’re going to catch an Aggie baseball game at Olsen this afternoon. My nutrition will definitely take a hit today!

              Chest and back day today. Worked all weekend so it was a little tough getting outta da bed! 5X5 working at 80% of my 1 rep max.

              Bench press/med ball situp
              Pec deck/lat pulldown neutral grip
              Incline DB chest press/BB row supinated grip/incline leg raise

              Arm and leg day tomorrow.

                    I worked legs pretty hard yesterday evening (after moving 15 sacks of top soil around to the side of the house as a "warmup" ). I had a bit of a "lightbulb" moment after watching a video about not getting too hung up on sets/reps and, instead, focusing on TUT (and RPE.) At my age (54 as of Saturday) I want to be careful about lifting too heavy, but I still want to optimize gains (growth/strength). I went a little lighter (on back squats and RDLs) but went slower on the eccentric movements, with a pause at the bottom, and still tried to be "explosive" on the concentric. Because I don't have a spotter, I feel a lot more comfortable pushing to 8-9 RPE for back squats (regardless of the rep number) because I can more safely dump the lighter weight if needed.

                    According to my watch (and my body this morning) it was a pretty intense workout!

                      Arms and legs today. I didn't get all of it done so Ill finish the rest of it tomorrow.

                      Belt squat/barbell curl/hanging leg raise
                      Deadlift/preacher curl/cable rotations
                      Leg extension/spider curl

                      Cardio, abs and extra stuff tomorrow.

                          Played basketball for an hour + yesterday so I stayed away from the weights…. Will be hitting up arms and legs later today…

                            Got in this morning and got it done. No cardio today as planned, but who needs cardio anyway? 😅 Shoulders, abs and some legs to make up what I didn't get done yesterday. Tomorrow is a rest day.

                            Standing calf raise/forearm curls/shoulder press/hanging leg raise
                            Lateral raise/hanging leg raise/prone leg curl
                            Upright row/toes in calf raise/ab roller/ab crunch machine

                                I was on the road for work all day yesterday, resulting in an unscheduled rest day. Used today as a makeup for upper body.
