Just got back form seeing it. Pretty good a little different take from the orginial but a great acting job especially by the girl who plays Matty Ross. Went with the attitude Bridges wasn't trying to immitate John Wayne but trying to portray a certain character
and he did a pretty good job. Still nothing beats a good John Wayne western.

I don’t understand why many of the movies coming out are remakes of earlier releases. Is it just risk avoidance or is Hollywood out of fresh ideas?
Hollywood is not just out of ideas, this generation has no imagination! They grew up playing with video games and live action toys that did everything. They never had to pretend, imagine or dream up something while playing as children, so they never developed the ability to use their imagination.

Just an observation watching the orginial right now and my 12 yr old son says dad John Wayne had the eye patch on the other eye than the one we saw today. He's right.

The two best modern cowboy actors are Sam Elliott and Tom Sellick. Both of which would be better choices than Jeff Bridges. I am a Matt Damon fan even if he is a raging liberal. LOL

I'll watch this when it hits DVD but it'll never rival the original.

I cried when "THE DUKE" died, and I'm not ashamed to say it .

I bet Sam Elliot would have been great in that role, cant picture Selleck doing it though. I am a big Duvall fan but really cant picture him in that role either.

Back....Loved It!!! If you can get past the idea of it being a remake, it's a great movie. I may have to see it one more time in the theater. Not going back to the MovieTavern in Arlington though, it was a zoo.

It was pretty good. Jeff Bridges did a good job, but he is not John Wayne none the less. The girl that played Mattie Ross did a great job.

I can't really decide what I thought of it. Can't really tell that the Coen's did a whole lot to put their own stamp on it. Damon did a good job as LaBeuf, Bridges was ok but over-acted it, Brolin (who I love) way over-acted. Not sure if they were just doing it the way the Coen's told them, or just tried to hard.

The story line varied some, but not much. It's almost as if they weren't close enough to the original to try to improve on it..........but not far enough off to make it their own.

Had the original never existed, I'd say that was a decent (not great) movie. I tried really hard to separate the two, not sure if it's possible yet......I'll by the DVD and give it the couch test.

Bridges did a good job, but he sure doesn't deserve any awards.....
