I’m pretty confident about the hunt I have booked with WTHO as they have a 95% success ratio on there guided hunts but I also understand there there are NO guarantees , now the odds of me drawing a big time hunt are like the odds of me hitting the lottery lol but it could happen.

Waterfowl hunting at Brazos Bend SP should be, well, let’s just say interesting (if not dangerous). :eek

I haven't been there. But why should it be any more dangerous than any of the other hunts that TP&W puts on? 2 days total of hunting between 8 managed hunters. And how much available water hunting resources in a 5000 acre park with multiple lakes and over 3 miles of river frontage? I would think that there would be plenty of room. And TP&W I'm sure has a plan.

          Please explain.

My guess is the HUGE alligator population at that park.

There’s zero chance I’d throw on a pair of waders and get out in any of those lakes. I’ve waded plenty in gator country. But this place is different.

Ha ha ha that’s the truth, they are thicker than roaches there.

My kids saw one take down a heron right next sidewalk, deathroll screaming and all….they loved it

It’s an adventure just trying to get a bass to the bank that you hooked while you are fishing.

I couldn’t imagine walking out to retrieve a wounded duck (or could be a race of see who get there first).

I have hunted in some alligator infested waters, but as others mentioned, that place is on a level all it’s own.

Has TPWD EVER made changes due to public comments?

I feel like it is all just lip service to say they "allowed" the public a voice. They are going to do what they want. Like always. Population increases yet public opportunities have stayed the same or even fallen.

My plan this year is gonna be the same as every year, same approach I used to take when I was single and still use to this day for fishing.

Put as many lines as I can in the water and hope for the best. And it’s always one of two things happen, I still get skunked or I end up with one too many at a time and in a bind.

Started applying in my 20s and 30s and just started getting drawn for some of the better hunts. I’m in my mid-50s now.

Need to draw exotic and then I’m pretty much starting all over again!
