Who the hell is against increasing homestead exemption, money for state water and increasing teachers retirement?!

The homestead exemption was already voted in in a special session this year. There is no need for an amendment.

And that completely ignores the fact the money has to come from somewhere to fund our schools.

It had to have voter approval. Now that we have voter approval we'll see if anyone actually gets a tax cut.

The professions you listed are noble. But obviously there is a good supply of people wanted to work in those professions for the wages they receive. Otherwise it would be necessary to increase salaries to attract enough labor to fill the void. Supply and demand. Having been a business owner I never felt the need to pay more for labor than was needed. Just like paying taxes. I don't want to pay a penny more than is needed to run the government as our founding fathers intended. If that makes me a selfish ***** I'll wear that badge with honor. You seem like the kind and compassionate type of person who will give someone the shirt right off of my back.

Being in one of those professions, i will tell you there is not enough people to fill the void. Most PDs are offering 10-20K signing bonuses on top of what they pay to get someone hired. Most PD's i know of are 10-20% understaffed as well. Lack of people coming to test and a lack of qualified applicants that do. I think half of our hires in the last few years have been cops that moved to TX from CA/WA/NY/IL. The FDs have a little less of an issue, but i know school districts that have similar issues due to very low pay

A child care facility is a private business just like any other private business. Why should they be able to skate property taxes? Why should my property taxes go up because someone else is getting a free ride? Any idea where the money will come from due to this loss of revenue. I'll give you one guess.

I think the person asking others for money due to their own life choices sounds selfish. I worked as a medic and decided I wanted a different lifestyle. You know what I did? I went to school and changed careers. Has worked out rather well for me. You should give it a try if you want a step up in life.

I went to school and changed careers. Has worked out rather well for me. You should give it a try if you want a step up in life.

You seem more concerned with your financial situation and making sure others pay you more money for your career choice. Congrats on the BS. Maybe you can move on to a better career with a more advanced degree. You could also utilize the option of working your way up to a leadership position or start your own company.
