Academy and open carry?

I'm at a loss Mike...nobody will acknowledge any sort of case history of other states & their OC laws, yet since it's now becoming law in Texas somehow history / facts are void & all the negatives that have not happened anywhere else for decades is going to be a massive problem in Texas??

I doubt we will see any retractions once this non issue proves itself...maybe the most senseless waste of worry by grown reasonable people I've ever witnessed.

Just seems to be this topic where so many won't take into account all the lack of proof of issues they are concerned with...again, we have decades of time with dozens of states but they are convinced pending doom will be on every corner.

It's simply Unfounded & should be rejoicing we are getting to irritate the antis...otherwise I very much appreciate and agree with these same fine folks on most other issues. Not understanding the disregard of proof that is out there (or NOT out there) of all the examples I keep reading??

You're killing yourself trying to figure that side out. I promise you you're not alone in your opinion.
I took my wife,(& my concealed gun) to Arizona on vacation back in October for a week and as much as I looked from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon and back, I never saw 1 OC. Imagine that!

Sure other States have had OC for years and without much a do, but this is Texas.....where some have been dreaming of this moment since playing cowboys and native Americans.

Ted do you really think the "culture" is different in Texas than Oklahoma? If so, you need to get out more. I was born and raised in Texas, move to Oklahoma 15 years ago and can tell you there is very little notable differences in culture of the people who live in Oklahoma and the folks back home.

15 years spent in New Mexico and I saw 2-3 OC a year. Most were mountain folks coming to town for provisions. 6 months from now this conservation will be forgotten. Done and over. Relax.

30 06,,,30 07......what difference does it really make who posts what!!!!! I was carrying a concealed weapon long before concealed carry became legal....and will continue to do so as long as i feel it is necessary to protect me and my family...only places i don't carry are those protected by metal detectors...i'd rather have it when needed than worry about the legality.

I don't believe I mentioned Oklahoma but ok. not everyone on here hates oklahoma don't be so defensive. My comment was giving you and the other States a compliment. due to the size of Texas I think we have a greater likelihood of having more publicity being placed on the individuals that will embrace OC for all the wrong reasons. Texas is receiving far more attention about this than any state I can recall. Media is going to be interviewing and posting up pics of everyone that gives this new right a bad name. What will help is this hype will die down after the first few months.

It's hillarious.. He trusts you to Carry a loaded gun amongst the shoppers but "OH NO" you ain't carrying that scope to the front... SMH.

I think he is most likely more worried about theft of merchandise than anything else. Because you can bet your bottom dollar, some idiot will attempt to buy a weapon and put it in a holster and attempt to walk out.
