I think they have every right to refuse to let people come in their stores for whatever reason they want. It is there store. I choose to give them my $ or not. Everyone up in arms about "their rights"- What about the business owners rights?

Dear God, why the hell is everyone in such a hurry to show their piece to everyone? I don't get it, honestly. The law was not created for everybody to run a round with a hogleg strapped on.

The academy near me has a sign specifically stating that their rules on carry are whatever the state laws are...

As a sporting goods retailer they have made no comments on this to any employees. I doubt they will either!

30 06,,,30 07......what difference does it really make who posts what!!!!! I was carrying a concealed weapon long before concealed carry became legal....and will continue to do so as long as I feel it is necessary to protect me and my family...only places I don't carry are those protected by metal detectors...I'd rather have it when needed than worry about the legality.

It's not about that; it's not about wanting to "show off" or get attention. It's about having a CHL and being vetted and certified as a safe, responsible gun owner, and thus having the right to carry the way you want to. So say it's a hot afternoon, I'm wearing jeans and a neat tucked-in shirt, and I need to run into HEB for some milk on the way home. I'll have to disarm and leave my gun in the car.

As far as HEB worrying about it driving off customers, ain't gonna happen. Most people will go to HEB for a year or more before seeing a single open carrier, and if they do, how many do you think will suddenly stop shopping at HEB just because they see somebody open carrying?

Keep in mind also that this comes from HEB corporate headquarters. I'm sure the HEB here in Lampasas (an extremely gun-friendly town) wouldn't have posted that 07 sign if they hadn't been ordered to.

Why is the government in a hurry to make a law on if/how you can carry your gun, whatever happened to my rights? Look other states have had this law for years, I lived in one for 3 years (arizona) and they don't even have to have a chl. It's no big deal....

I won't hardly walk into a store that doesn't allow CHL holders.I don't like the fact I can't protect myself or my family in a gun free zone that's why these nut jobs target these types of places. I don't care one way or the other concealed or open carry and neither does the criminal.

I was in Tempe for 2 years and they had the open carry. Not many folks exercised the right. I expect the same here.

The boycott crap is a liberal argument that's rather ridiculous. Just as they do, you profess to want freedom as long as it's the freedom YOU want.

Academy and HEB are privately owned entities. It's their right to allow or not allow OC/CC in/on their premises. This is the very basic sense of freedom. They are allowed to do as they wish just as you are. Yes you can boycott to your hearts content as is your right but do it for the right reasons, not out of spite for them exercising the very freedom you claim to love which is freedom of choice.

I don't give a rip about OC, I'm glad it's now legal because it's a freakin right and a right not exercised is a right that will be lost. Personally I never will, I like my pistols tucked away where you can't see them but if everyone else wanted to, I don't care and it won't raise an eyebrow from me.
Agreed, that's the way I feel about smoking, a business should have the right to allow it or not and I have the right to patronize them or not. I personally hate smoking, but there should be that elusive freedom thing in all our affairs.

I rarely saw it in Tempe, I saw it more in Chandler and Scottsdale. I moved back to Texas in July, am in Phoenix now.
