He screwed up with his coaching staff / OC but I'm hearing he didn't have the open check book as once thought. Patterson was trying to go cheap to save money. Patterson wouldn't settle the Wickline lawsuit and allow him to be done with it. I think Patterson's hands are on all this too.

I think he needs to find a new OC that will put up 35 points a game. You can't win in the Big 12 scoring 17 points a game. I want a stud OC (if ones out there) or stay with Norvell. I have no complaints (outside Iowa State) with Norvell / Traylor combo so I can live with it.

I think he needs to get his guys on campus. Like I have stated several times, name a JR or SR that would start at OU, Baylor, TCU, OSU?

Out of Heard / Locksely / Swoopes / Merrick / Buechele somebody needs to step up and play well. You can't win in the Big 12 without good QB play.

1. Better / good QB play
2. Charlie's guys
3. OC hire
4. Catch some breaks

Again, the record means nothing to me.

Fair enough. I would argue that 1 and 2 are more or less the same? Seems like a fairly reasonable list to me. Has there been any talk of Merrick possibly being the guy?

I don't think anybody will beat Bama if they keep playin the way they are now and stay healthy. Zero U will win the Big XII and 'IF' they get in the final four they will play Bama in the finals. Both are running the ball the best right now.

Big 12 hanging tough, but they're not getting one in unless the pokes run the table. ND is the only obstacle for OU.

Kinda easy to have the toughest SOS when most of all your opponents are better than you are.......

I don't remember the Simms run....I thought he was terrible. Had they left Applewhite as the starter, may have been different outcome too.

Simms was 26-6 as a starter and lots of UT records. All his losses where to ranked teams in the top 15 except at A&M his freshmen year when Major got food poisoning.

. I'd love to have him right now.

He'd get killed behind the line. Unless he got rid of it really quick. But Texas was beat the ags the year Major got sick. Why did Simms come out?

I have been through this time and time again. Simms was the better QB and the best option. I saw every snap of practice (was the QB manager) and on the sidelines / locker room for it all. The team all supported Simms too. Major was a good QB but Simms was the right option.
