Shooting in the rain at dark is always risky. Probably not much blood due to no exit hole with a .270

My .270 has never failed to exit. 150gr corelokt.

.270 is not the issue, that's plenty of gun.

Track the track and not the blood, the ground is soft and should be super easy.
If he ran he tore the ground up pretty good

Thats why a 270 will make you a real good tracker. Run off gun is what I call them after 10 years chasin 4 different guys lost wonded deer on our lease. I know everyone thinks thier great but Ive seen much different results. I hope you find it & buy a 25-06 and hit them like Thor's hammer! good luck
