Had a bad experience with R&C Archery

I'm not shocked to hear people talk about Roy at R&C. He has been that way for years.

I am shocked to see this type of negative attack from someone at West Houston Archery. I had a less than stellar experience last year at West Houston on getting a string replaced but chocked it up to ME not making the correct request. I'm afraid to take my bow back this off-season to ask for the issue to be fixed after seeing this.

I don't post on here often so I'm probably considered a nubbin buck but I know all of the people at west houston and I also know Richard at Bowzone. They are all good people. Brian Langston owns West Houston archery and used to own Bowzone as well. Guy is one of the nicest people I know but he can be blunt. Not sure who booner or bust is, could see it being one of the west houston guys. I've hunted and bought bows from Brian, Glenn and Rick from West Houston and hope nobody would have an opinion of them without dealing with them personally. Brian invited me to Kansas with him 10 years ago and since then we have hunted in half a dozen states together plus mexico. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him reacting to someone using the same story from Viking (a shop that is either out of business or will be shortly) to his shop (owns Mathews record for sales in a year several years running). I own my own business and would be pretty hot if someone made stories up and spread them across the web affecting my income I use to support my family. FYI- Brian has like 5 kids so that child support is healthy lol. West Houston guys have families so knowing that, I would have also called the guy out. Who cares "how" someone is called out on the web. People reacting differently but the facts are the facts.

As a customer of West Houston for several bows I can tell you that customer service is their number one priority. Anyone who buys bows and related products online aren't really worried about service and I would consider that when weighing their opinions on local shops.

With that said I'm a Richard fan from Bowzone as well. He is a great guy and really cares about his customers as well.

I'm a nubbin buck on here and actually a friend of the west houston guys so maybe my opinion doesn't matter but if you are looking for a good shop and are on that side of town I would encourage you to try it out yourself. If you are looking for the cheapest price, try ebay. If you are looking for a shop that will take care of you and give you a place to hang out while you get rigged up, try West Houston and come up with your own opinions.

Some people take these comments seriously so hesitate when posting something that isn't true. If you have a problem with Rick, I wouldn't take it out on a shop that hired him. I would let the new shop create their own track record. I think the records they are setting for Mathews will speak for themselves.

At the end of the day buy what you want, where you want I just don't see the point in making things up.

        Rant over

I'm tired and maybe a little buzzed

R&C archery has no people/business skills at all. I'm not sure how it stays open, except for maybe being the only bow shop in the area. They have the worst customer service and treat you like an idiot if you don't buy an over priced bow from them. They want to tell you all their crap stories about how great they are but if you mention anything about yourself or success they will quickly cut you off. I will gladly drive to Santa Fe after hearing all the good feedback.

              Why!!!

Even if they are bought somewhere else and they bring it to a shop, the shop still charges a fee for cutting the arrows. In my books this is still a profit for that shop. Some money is still better than no money and the shop has the possibility of making a full time customer out of that person. People often forget that it is the customer that keeps you in buisness and it is the shops job to try and make that relationship work and grow.

Do you own an archery shop? If so, what is the name and location of it?

Thanks for your input to this thread, and thank you for getting your point across without calling anyone a lying pos! I have no personal problem with west Houston or any other shop really, I'm fortunate enough to live down the road from live oak in Bryan so I already have the best at my disposal

Where are you supposed to take it. I mean are you expected to buy all the equipment required to cut and insert your own arrows. He's going to charge you for his services so what does he care if you bought them online. It would be different if you bought equipment somewhere else then expected him to service it for free, but I don't think that is the case in this instance. One unhappy customer is with a hundred happy ones IMO. MAYBE if he hasn't been a dill rod the customer would but arrows from him next time.

Discount Tire changed a flat for me for free 18 years ago. Guess how much money I've spent there since???? Way more than the cost of a $10 flat repair.

There is a difference between bluntness and rudeness. With the internet, people are able to provide feedback to more people than before. Out is the old adage of "one satisfied customer tells three people, one dissatisfied customer tells 15" thanks to the ability to reach more people. That being said, there will be negative posts about anyone and any business on the internet, mine included, and you just have to roll with it, intsead of insulting future customers. Honest work can only be shown in how you treat your customers and how you make things right. Next time, just suck it up, buttercup, and keep on doing things right for you customer. A PM also works wonders.

He probably shouldn't have called him a POS but I can see where he's coming from. Someone going around making up stories about others' business isn't a good thing. All this could be cleared up if Greenheadless would just tell his side but for some reason he decided to vanish when his lie was caught.

I agree - it stinks. I've been there, it irks me, but there was a more tactful way of handling that situation. Seeing business owners respond that way leaves a bad taste in my mouth about their business, as I won't base my opinion off of one person's opinion, but how the business tries to make things right, and my visit to their business. Still waiting on the other person to respond as well.

Was Greenheadless caught in a lie?. He didn't say West Houston broke the sights. I took it as one of the guys now working at West Houston was the guy from Viking that broke his sight. Hmmmmm. Is this what everybody is butthurt about?
