Had a bad experience with R&C Archery

I have heard several people say the guy at R&C archery was difficult to get along with, but I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Well, I went in the other day to get some arrows cut down and inserts put in. As soon as I walked in I didn’t get a “Hello” or “Hi” or “Good morning” I got “And what is it you need?” I said “I bought some arrows and wanted to see if you could cut them and glue inserts “His response was “Where did you buy theses from?” I said “Midway USA” and he asked why I bought them from there. I told him I was emailed a coupon. You could tell that he was not happy that I didn’t buy the arrows from him. As he is reluctantly cutting my arrows, I ask him “If I bring a new rest in what would you charge me to install it?” His SHOCKING reply as he drops everything in his hands “Look, if you want to buy your cheap Walmart CRAP and bring it in here I will refuse to install it. But if you buy a rest from me I will install in for free!” and picks my arrow back up. I then just bit my tongue and didn’t reply to his rude comment. After a few moments of silence he asked me where I bought my bow from, I told him Sant Fe Archery. He said “He must have sold you one of those QAD pieces of crap huh?” I said no sir, I use a WB and was just asking for a bow that I am trying to set up for my step son. Needless to say I will not be returning to that store. I will make the drive to Santa Fe Archery or Triple Edge Archery. Rant over….

Why not ell him to take a flying leap, and yeah I'm serious. Small business owners wonder why we go else where, this is why.

BTW reminds me of one of the local gun shops here Between the Cheeks. When your opening line is "Whatcha ya need bud?" and you treat me like your doing me a favor as vice versa, well find the nearest cliff and jump a hole.

Nothing wrong with the opening line Whatcha ya need bud.
But I Agee his demeanor really sucked.
There is a local shop that it depends on who is working as to how you are treated .

Yikes! They are dependent on local business if they do not have a webpage for national sales/service. That shop will not be open long.

Of course he needs you to buy the whole rig from him, thats the only way he will stay in business. But the only way he has to compete with the big discounters is his service. He needs to make you want to stop by,drink a cup of coffee and shoot the crap every week or so, and tell your friends that they shouldn't buy their stuff anywhere else. I've been in retail almost 30 years and if I ever treated anyone like that, I would have been looking for a job. Of course with sales moving online, customer service is a dying art, or at least will mean something completely different. Rant on brother, rant on.

Whatcha need bub would have been fine, but “And what is it you need?” is a little rude to me. I have been warned about this guy but I didn’t believe it until now. You should think that if he has rival business like SFA and TEA he would be a little more concerned...

                2 things here
                1) I will continue to buy online
                2) I will tune myself or have a "bud" tune for me

I completely agree, online shopping has to be killing these guys. But something that the mom and pop stores have that online dont? Real people to talk to, a range to test products and questions easily answered.

Thank goodness for BowZone! They understand the dynamics of business and will charge accordingly for things like that. And yes, over the years I let them do everything to my rigs.........exclusively!

The good thing is you have several shops to go to. We are VERY limited in this part of the world.

BowZone has never treated me anything different than their favorite customer. Just my opinion.

When I read the thread title I was afraid you tried to buy a Dodge around north Texas.

I just recently purchased my mission ballistic from there and had no problem. But that is the key bought from him, guess he gets offended if you bring something in there that you did not buy from him. I have not dealt with any other bow shops so I definitely can't say one way or the other on service. But I do agree with the comments in the above statements gotta cater to the people if your gonna be in a business that deals with people. Where in Santa Fe is Santa Fe archery may have to go visit as it is only 30 minutes away.
