      But if you want a yeti I say go for it. I also find it funny how some guys will spend $1,000 every year so they can have the newest bow out there. My 6 year old $400 Bear drops everything I shoot at. But if that new bow makes you happy go for it. I have a few $50-$150 knifes, but there is no comparison to my Chops knife. The fit, the finish, the file work, the handles everything about it is so much nicer. So when I spent $500+ on a custom made knife I never once thought about the cost. It was the fact that it was made by hand for me the exact way I wanted, and nobody has one like it. And when I die I will leave it to my son, because I know it will still be an incredible knife and work of art.

      Like a couple of other people have said, if your not blowing the grocery money buy what makes you happy. And quit worrying about how other people spend their money.

        Same as buying a King Ranch, the white work truck model will do the same thing

            I was talking to him in another thread. To be honest I'm terrified I would lose it. I don't mind replacing a case knife every year or so but I would have a heart attack if I lost a thousand dollar custom knife.

              I hear ya, I am that way with sunglasses. I have bought a few pair of $100 glasses that fit really well and lost them with in the first month. So now I buy the pack of 6 at Sam's for $12, I have them all over the place cant seem to lose those.

                You Betcha!

                I get the Victorinox knives for $5 a piece from a taxi down the street.

                I like the Chicago Cutlery S 102 pairing as well.

                It has a little thicker blade than the Victorinox, but still sharpens fast.

                  You guys don't get it...not all custom knives are tools to use as hammers and ice chests.

                  I have some custom & production made knives that have increased in value 25-100% over the years.

                  Yes, they have to stay safe queens like pre 64 winchesters, Colt revolvers, etc...

                  ~~~~~~~~~~
                  If you have to debone dozens of deer some years, having a good custom is always kinda cool...then again, I like snap on tools when I could break some craftman.
                      I'm relatively new to the knife making game. I have made close to 20 or so and given them away to family or friends. I started out just to make one for me and my son but it quickly became an obsession to get better. My goal is to make and sell knives that get used. I'm certainly using them. I think a lot of knives in the $200-$1000 are being used. A person that really likes knives and understands the knife world will pay for it and use it. Knives over $1K are usually by established makers that have a following and the knives are being bought as collector's items and investments. No different than in the gun world I guess. A lot of those makers don't take orders because they would be swamped. It's not unheard of for a quality maker to have a 6 month waiting list. I love looking at all of the expensive knives but I would never purchase one because I can't afford it but there are plenty of guys with disposable income that will and do.
                          LOL....the difference is I use the Yetis semi-weekly, I wouldn't use a $400 knife..
                          But I have no issues with somebody that does..
                            Why not, though? As long as you use it properly(not as a crow bar) you aren't going to hurt it.
                                My fiancé bought me a boker Demascus for christmas its the nicest knife I've ever had its not a everyday carry for me (a little to big) but I will be using it for cleaning the next deer I kill. Planned on using it last season but didn't get a kill after Christmas. It was somewhere between 400-500.
