    HIGH dollar knives

I see these Kentucky blue grass, Appalachian mountain damascus, Mexico cactus, ancient sabertooth tiger bone, hand engraved spined, knives that sell for $400-$1,00, or more.
Does anyone actually use these knives or are they simply a show? If you do use it does it perform like a $500 knife 'should'?

Man what does someone do for a living to be able to buy a 1000 knife? There are some fine knives out there though

It's all about 'prestige' and image. I think all the custom knife stuff is 'cool' to look at but it's got about zero practical value. A knife that costs hundreds of dollars isn't going to skin an animal any better than a cheap knife that's sharpened well; but you may "look better" doing it! I can appreciate the beauty and creativity and craftsmanship of a lot of these knives but I don't see what makes them "better" in any practical sense. If the beauty of a knife tickles your fancy, from a collector's standpoint, I can definitely understand that, though.

There's no sense in me buying a knife like that because I'd be afraid to use it and it'd just sit around on display; and I can think of 1,000,000 other things that I could get more aesthetic value or practical use out of, for the same money. I guess if it was from a famous maker who's suffering from a terminal illness I might buy one to 'flip' down the road for a profit, but that's about the only way one would find its way into my hands.

But, that's what makes the world go around and makes it so interesting - different strokes for different folks. Too each their own!

I've got a few $200 plus Benchmades. I've always wanted a $1000 benchmade Damascus to go with my Sig Sauer and Tag Hauer watch. At one time, I was making the kind of money where I could have done it...and then became unemployed. Prolly will never happen now. Never really wanted a Rolex, but toyed with the idea of a really nice Damascus bladed pocket knife.

My parents gave me an $800 pocket knife for Christmas a few months ago- I don't know what to do with it! It's really, really nice looking, very smooth, razor sharp. But I'm afraid to use it, so I can't tell you how it performs!

Look up William Henry pocket knives. The cheap ones are $595.

                  My Bagwell bowie will perform
But it is a fighting bowie knife, not a pocket knife. Hand forged to my dimensions for best balance and fit. Even had the pleasure to train will Bill Bagwell for proper technique.
