I like #3 for early season over decoys and change to #2 later with down is more developed and harder to penetrate

3" #3's been trying different type shells last couple years trying to teach my son how to knock a duck down. Still got some 2's and 4's that work.
But I'll agree in the good ol days #5 and #6 lead shot was a dead duck.
