Friendly Discussion: What shot size for Ducks

That just gets the dog a little extra work. Nothing like watching my old lab Gauge chase a cripple across a 10 acre rice pond. Best was when I watched him chase a specklebelly across a field for probably 150-200 yards. Goose was hit good but couldnt get more than a foot off the ground.

Well I don't have a dog and I didn't like chasing them at the time so they got smacked with BB. Then I started carrying #8 with me as a swatter load and went to #2 to help increase the hit ratios on the smaller birds like the teal and widgeons.

3" #2 Kent Fasteel. Been shooting it for 10 years. I really liked heavy metal when it came out but I couldn't shell out $20+ a box.
