Do not remove the tree from her car!! You'll end up at fault somehow...

I won't touch the tree again. More branches in my neighborhood are falling and this same tree is probably going to have to come down.

Man we really dodged the bullet here in Collinsville, not much freezing rain and no limbs down . Am going to take the opportunity to burn some big brush piles, been waiting for this weather to do it.

I would call your homeowner's insurance company and ask them. It may be an act of God and you are not responsible. If so, then her uninsured coverage on her car should cover it.

Be careful out there. More limbs likely to come down. You don't want to be like that car.

Insurance Company will more likely call that an Act of God, the only possible way that your insurance will have to pay is if you are negligent. If the tree in your yard is dead, that is one possible way to be found negligent and you pay. Other wise an Act of God, you are off the hook. Goodluck

Tree was very healthy, but not under that much ice. the branches I cut out of the alley was were heavy! My Red Oak is full of ice right now and I am keeping my kids inside today

i did clear the road out so people could drive down to the end. Piled brush on the side walk. Most people can just use the alley to get in and out

I'm an arborist that does Risk Assessments. The only way YOU (Your HO insurance) would be liable is if it was proved that the limb was in danger of breaking prior to the storm and you were made aware of it or it was so blatantly obvious that you should have known about it. With the Ice storm ya'll are having up there, it's a no-brainer, unless that branch was previously dead.

I had some of that same action on a much smaller scale.

But as you can see, I still can't park to save my life.

Wow! Be careful out there. We were blessed with sleet/snow instead of the freezing rain they predicted up here. We just learned yesterday that 1/4" of ice increases the weight of tree limbs thirty fold!

And my insurance advice? Take Atfulldraw's advice.

Just glad everyone is ok SO FAR. Stay in your homes away from the trees we are constantly hearing of people getting killed by fallen trees. DO NOT put yourselves in harms way. The car is not worth loosing one of our BROTHERS or SISTERS on TBH!!!!!!!
