I lived in a house once where a tree fell on my car and the owner WAS liable. The house next to me was a rental and the renters had sent NUMEROUS emails to the owner telling him that the tree in the yard was rotted, etc. He would always respond with he knew and would take care of it...never did. A year after the first email the largest limb fell, missed the neighbors car but was laying on top of mine. The renters gave me the emails and the owner of the house ended up paying me for the damages. The renters didnt care as they were in their last month...owner of the house was ****** at them. A $200-300 tree job ended up costing him over $1k.
No power since 2am here in parts of Rockwall Co. I also had a big cottonwood branch crash in my front yard. Luckily nothing but the branch and my yard was involved. Sad part is, I'm much more prepared for this situation at deer camp then I am at home. Maybe that's where we should be....
After reading this thread my wife and I went around the house and cut any limbs overhanging the alleyway and the neighbor's house (she is out of town). One of the advantages of working from home.
The tree is/was healthy before ice storm. As stated previously she called her insurance company and she is coverage. The issue I have is who is going to get this tree off her car?
I know I can cut up the tree after it has been removed.

Time for you to make some fun money. Tell her insurance company you will do it for $1000.
I guess I will be paying for her damage since it was my tree right?
I have no idea, but our soon to be Governor, Greg Abbott, was paralyzed when a tree branch fell on him. He sued the homeowner and won. He gets monthly payments with additional lump sums every so often. That settlement has brought him over $6M since the 80's. He'll get another $570K this year to add to it.
