For free I say go for sure. I have been to Millersburg several times but never been to the ranch. It is some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen around there especially during the fall. The amish country is beautiful and you ought to set aside a day to visit around and see the real amish country not the tourist attractions. As for the hunt, I know a man who is another deer breeder who personally knows the owner. (Not going to put his name or the owners name) But he doesn't personally care for the man or the ranch that he runs and I will leave it at that. From what I know (although I have never personally been there) it is more of a shoot than a hunting experience, expect to see lots of deer and have tons of chances to shoot huge bucks. But like I say, for free I would go for sure.

What cracks me up is the dude asks for what we think of the place, he even specifically asks if it will be tied to a tree in his question, tell him that yep it will figuratively speaking be tied to a tree and everybody is up in arms. If I had the chance I would go in heart beat doesn't hurt my feelings shooting something tied up and waiting on me. I didn't pass judgement in my comment, I didn't express any kind of emotion just cold hard facts that the deer are behind a tall fence with little pressure and were bred specifically to have big antlers. No demeaning he asked and we told him period.

Everybody is a little testy this morning on here lol. Anybody that knows me knows that I have turn down a lot of trips to shoot bigger deer then we have at our own ranch but I prefer to hunt my own place because it’s a labor of love for me and it’s not just about killing to me, I like the hunt and managing our place. I would prefer to shoot a 140 class buck at my place then a monster somewhere else because I know I have put the work in and management practices in to get the biggest deer we can at our place. I have already shot my deer at my place this year and this opportunity came up so I said yes. If it’s shooting fish in a barrel then I will wait and pick the deer I want but if it’s a little more like the hunting I’m use to then I don’t want to let something walk on the first day that I would shoot on the last. Didn’t want to get everybody up in arms was just wondering about the place and gun situation because I have never flown before and didn’t want to mess with brining my gun on a plane. Carry on everybody

As for flying with a gun it is stupid easy. If you have a nice hard plastic case with lock holes use it, if not borrow one if you can. Just put the gun and a couple of boxes of ammo as well as knives or any other contraband you wish to take in the case, lock it up on both sides, check it in at baggage and you are ready to go easy peasy. They will have you sign a piece of paper and put it in the case so have you key ready so you can open it for them to put in the piece of paper.

I have not been and I'm pretty sure it's not even close to what most would call "real hunting" but as long as you understand that, heck yes, go.

                  This could be you!

Based on the intensity of comments I would say the rut is still on. Btw are the nontypicals all genetics or parasites in the antlers causing odd growth formations? I remember hearing about foreign influences causing odd palmation.

I wouldn't go if it was free. But I hope you have an enjoyable experience. Flying with a gun is really quite simple.

It may not be a challenging hunt but who cares. It's legal and someone is paying for you to go. I'd go in a heartbeat. I have hunted low fence, high fence, no fence, and even been helicoptered in to remote NWT. To me it's all hunting and all fun. Don't worry about these internet heroes posting negative stuff. It ain't exactly a mind blowing exercise to sit over a feeder and kill a deer.

                            oh..no...you diin't!! lol

Someone is always going to degrade someone elses method of hunting.
Gun hunter-elite bowhunter says thats pathetic and not challenging.
Compound bow hunter-elite trad shooter says your cheating cause you got wheels.
Trad hunter with store bought arrows and heads- elite selfbowman says they're better than that cause they make their own wooden arrows and knapp their heads like the indians did.

Its sad really and never friggin ending

Just to clarify, I wasn't degrading anyone for using feeders. I hunt then all the time and enjoy it. I just flat out love hunting. I don't care what you use or how you do it. Get out and hunt!
