I get the feeling the NCAA has had nothing all along, and still have plenty of it left. And they are just trying to bait ATM into suspending him on their own for 2 games so they can claim that "justice was served" without having to admit they had nothing, and not hurting ATM's chances a a nice run.

I agree with Heath, the NCAA wants this to go away for two reasons. First, they know they can't prove anything so don't want to fight a losing battle. Two, this is a wide spreed occurance and would be a pandoras box they stated digging into it.

@ChuckCarltonDMN: Texas confirms senior DT Ashton Dorsey has decided to transfer. Wasn't a starter but was viewed as a potential playmaker, if motivated.
Weak in the head! Absent from depth chart so he's going to leave instead of working harder to compete.Last edited by Chad C; 08-27-2013, 09:41 AM.

Bdchorn, you are right that the NCAA has a much lower level of proof. But Johhny has his own set of lawyers and if the NCAA suspends him without solid proof then they could find themselves in a civil court without evidence that they can use.
This is a huge grey area surrounding athletes autographs. Think of how many autographed items you have seen auctioned off by alumni groups for their benefit? The players didn't get paid but they could have known that someone was going to get paid. So by the NCAA rules they are guilty. So where do you draw the line?
Obviously accepting money for your signature, wether you agree with the rule or not, is a violation, but I think the NCAA doesn't want to get into that grey area in a court of law.

The NCAA doesn't have to worry about burden of proof or JF suing them. They merely have to be 70% sure he profited.
How he answered signing the memorabilia could be all the link they want or needed.
I guess will find out tomorrow! The gag order by the AD is very odd in and of itself.
