I am usually one in the "if you don't like it, don't read it" crowd, but some of the "gun control Tackleberrys" have made it so that one could cross the Mississippi if gun control threads were stepping stones on the ATC page.

I'd suggest starting one thread like MesquiteCountry did for the AR stuff and have at it and give us some space to talk about other things.

Delete what you have to and be patient with us. Most do not mean any harm at all. It's just that TBH is where many live.
For better or worse, you have created either the best thing since sliced bread or a monster. Most days sliced bread.

I can remember years ago when people on TBH were not so sensitive, and generally spoke of all things around the campfire and topics got really heated, but all got along and grew together tighter as a family knowing what was important to each. But over the years we have grown so much and much much more diversified than anybody could have ever hoped and along with that came the chance of certain topics becoming HOT very fast.

"Religion, Sports, high fences" being several from the old days that needed moderating because of PASSION, now forward to this day and age we still have hot topics but with weapons the very things most of us protect our families with or make a living with coming under fire PASSION rises to the top very quickly because none of us want to lose any rights, not even the smallest.

Too be perfectly honest TBH has grown so fast over the years we have lost that family feeling unless its in the inner circle, or something affects us directly. But dont take my word for it Micheal, just look around and see who doesn't post anymore or posts very rarely then reach out to them and ask why...the answers might surprise you.

And those of you that say "no more weapons threads" or Put the "Bow" back in TBH dont have a clue to what this family is about....its about EVERYTHING that matters to US and that means YOU!! Its a family site and at times will be somewhat dysfunctional...But there in lies the PASSION we have for what we believe in..
        Well done Sir!!!!

Roger wilco. I did a quick search and found that I have started 82 threads since joining about four years ago. Most were questions about hunting or house building; weather observations, humor and some miscellaneous stuff. I posted three news stories about gun related issues/events. Two rants: one about spoiled meat and one about trespassers. I hope that I have abided by TBH rules and stayed within boundaries. But, just to make sure I am on Michael's good side I will start a new thread that is all rainbows and unicorns.

Families change....life changes. Those that are strong can adapt and prosper, those that are weak and set in their ways, run and hide and blame the others. Attend a current Bownanza and you can feel it and sense the family. Go no further than the Jaspro, Macie and Conchoman threads and there is no doubt there is still a strong family here.....if not stronger than the original days.

As humans, our minds are coded to remember the "good old days" and block out the negative.....it's called the "good old day syndrome". It's easy to sit back and say I wish things were like they were back then when that is in effect. I am told that before my time (2005) that the same type of negativity went on... only on a smaller scale. With the members numbers exploding it is only natural for the rise in both the positive and negative aspects. I challenge you to find a better forum on the net. I, personally, have yet to find one.

I have to say I am taken back.

There is plenty of topics that can be deleted before you delete anything related to the legislations that are being press forward. So your comments about rhetoric and propaganda are slightly disturbing to me. Like a few others posted above, it seems far wiser to me that you use your powers to help direct this pro-gun/pro-rights movement…maybe with a "sticky thread” or something similar. To be deleting these post now seems to be about the worst thing I can think of, like turning a blind eye to the issue.

I am fairly new to the site, but the idea of the campfire seems ridiculously simple to me. A place where hunters (bowhunters) can speak their mind. If you don’t like whats being said, you simply go to another campfire. I can tell you, I don’t click on the sticker sighting threads and sports threads…I simply scroll over them.

Most of us started as gun hunters before becoming bowhunters.

Your site is one of my sources of media…PLEASE don’t take that left turn.

...and we are living in such interesting times too!! Hard to believe what is going on around the globe. If you are fascinated with the topic & involved it as well (say like border issuse for me), it's hard to keep the passion stuck in your craw.

Michael is right about the redundancy & I don't know what the answers are...sticky might work. I wish everyone would ask their AR / Tacticool questions on one thread. A sticky to use the search button really might be worth trying.

What happened to my rainbows and unicorns thread? It was just some Roy Rogers stuff and the lyrics to "Happy Trails." Is that off limits now?

                        Tuffbroadhead nailed it.

We'd have 10 pages of Sticky threads if we consolidated each and every topic of discussion into one big thread for each topic and stickied all of them. The redundant threads don't bother me. I read the ones I'm interested in, and I skip the rest. It's a simple system. Requires no extra moderator effort. Works for me just fine.

no need to sticky it.....MesquiteCountry's AR Tacticool thread has flourished without a sticky..

Let me highlight some of the important parts of my original post that you may have overlooked, and hopefully will ease your concerns.

I understand the implications of some of these topics to maintaining our Second Amendment rights...there's a LOT of redundency with the same "information" posted in multiple topics.

I'm requesting that our members help curb the number of these threads...by properly disseminating ...pertinent information ....

True. Stickied or not, we'd still have 10 pages of big master threads for every topic under the sun. I don't see how it matters if discussion of a particular topic all happens on one huge thread or several smaller ones. Same discussion.

Would you rather have one hundred $1 bills or one $100 bill?

All families are dysfunctional...Every single one of them....If you don't believe me,wait a week or so,and you'll find out.
As always, the patriarch will step in,and try to restore a little order...Quench the flame a bit,and let them carry on.
Our little corner of the world is not any different than our "real"families.
                                Correct me if I'm wrong....
