True. Stickied or not, we'd still have 10 pages of big master threads for every topic under the sun. I don't see how it matters if discussion of a particular topic all happens on one huge thread or several smaller ones. Same discussion.
Would you rather have one hundred $1 bills or one $100 bill?
think of all the college educations we could contribute to with 100 $1 bills

Sorry if I confused you.....I was merely suggesting a master thread for certain hot topics that overrun the main page and are obvious enough that the owner/administrator feels the need to make a post to cut back on them.
Mike I love TBh thanks for the place and I not only respect your ownership of this private forum but agree that the conversation continues to go to far. Thanks for trying to keep that under tabs so the great content isn't overwhelmed with the same thing.

I get it, Smart. No offense or confusion on my part, brother. I understand the downside to having multiple theads on the same topic. But forcing all conversation into one big thread has downsides too - just different ones.
Take the Tacticool Thread of Awesome, for example. If I had a particular question about ARs, the answer to my question is probably already contained in that thread somewhere. But I'm dang sure not gonna sit and read dozens and dozens of pages trying to find it. I'm gonna post a new thread and get the information I need quickly and easily. And when somebody replies and says, "This has already been asked and answered 15 times in the big Tacticool thread.", I'm just gonna ignore it and continue on with my thread.

Pretty sure question threads are not included in the rant thread blanket that Michael is speaking of...

Just throwing this out there as I'm not sure everyone realizes...there is a Search Function within each thread at the top right between Forum Tools and Display Modes.
I would hope that updates, or new legislation, etc....would be allowed to have their own thread. Having to read through a massive 20, 50, or even 100 page thread is worthless. It much easier to find out something new on a new thread than to rummage through a giant thread that gets thrown off topic a few dozen times.

One of the biggest responsibilities with the site is to keep it moving forward in a positive direction, and one of the biggest challenges is balancing the desire to keep long-time members, who have seen it all and often have the "old days syndrome" Jason mentioned, with attracting new bowhunters and members to incorporate into the mix. It's easy enough for members who have been around for awhile to navigate through different forums, threads and topics, knowing which topics (and sometimes which members) to avoid. Unfortunately, it's not so easy for first-timers to get an immediate feel for the site if they come to Around the Campfire and within the first 25 topics they see six AR related threads, four Johnny Football thread, three gun control article links, a few of the "latest" jokes or pictures that I saw eight times on my FB a couple of days ago...you get the idea.
It's a delicate balance, and I feel like it is my responsibility (with help of moderators and members) to sometimes "nudge" it in the right direction when I feel like the is becoming something I don't want it to be. (I also admittedly go through phases where I have more or less time to devote to "clean-up" than other times. )
Nothing additional has been banned or placed off-limits. Just requesting quality over quantity.
This is confusing. Before the elections we were told our guns were safe, end of discussions. After the elections we find out that's not true, end of discussions. ?????.
The crossbow issue wouldn't bring this country to its knees, this one will.
