Incoming tide, green water, tons of bait, 10-15 mph S wind.

Didn’t catch very many fish, but we had some good enough to stink up some grease. In total I landed 3 trout, and 5 redfish. Wife landed 7 trout.

    Released a Trout about 26.5” 6.5lbs.
She came out the water on the hookset and started head shaking. She buried her head and peeled about 20 yards of line. After that run I checked my drag thinking I might have loosened it at some point. Nope. She just had chingos of fight in her. Brought her in, took a quick pic then cut her loose.

3 casts later in the same hole, felt a good thump, set the hook, a trout about 22-23” started tail walking. Peeled some drag, then did a couple tarpon flips spitting the hook on one of em. I just about cried. This dang trout looked like a football, she had some shoulders on her for sure.

Someone was getting “Hangry”, so we left shortly thereafter. 🤣
    Bad azz!

The hot color was the Texas Chicken, pearl silvery sides with a pink back and yellow belly. I always liked silver with a black back and gold with a black back too. They cast a little better than the Rebel. The Rebel probably has a better action. And you have to work them, lots of people use to try to fish them like a crank bait and just cast and reel, that isn't how they produce the best. You need a little stiffer rod to fish them well, they will wear you out on a light action trout rod if you are fishing them right.

I would love to know how you fish them. I just cast and reel for about a 6-10 count, pop a couple of times and let it float up keeping the line tight by slowly taking up slack and repeat. Works pretty well.

**** fish4food making me look bad brotha, yall did better than I did. Great Job

I got to my spot around 8 in the water by 815, nice to wade again without waders water felt great, started throwing a bone yozuri top first thing in the morning couple of blow ups just no solid commits.
I then switched to a weedless shrimp and began picking through potholes and boom immediate hookup 21inch red little buddy had some fight in him, caught about 8 all that size and released all of them off the water by noon the winds really started howling. Be back out next week weather is looking way better with sunny days and low winds sightcasting weather. Tight lines guys

Wife had to work in Corpus this morning, so I tagged along, dropped her off, and walked in to a wade spot.

Water was beautiful, bait plentiful, and fish… very difficult to find.

Landed 12 dinks and 5 rat reds. Was fun in the short time I was able to fish, but sure did miss the size of fish I had yesterday.

As I go onto the island I noticed a bunch of go fast boats lined up outside Marker 37. Not sure what’s tournament was going on.

Yup that looks like Marker 37 on a Saturday. I remember going fishing with a buddy making a run down to Baffin and we pulled up before daylight and had about a half hour line to wait in. Had to be about 80 boats.

Needing some advice. The week of April 13, I'll be staying in Rosenberg. I'm about an hour to hour fifteen to just about any decent spot I've fished before. I'll be getting out of class around 5ish every day, loading up then heading to the water until about 9-10ish each night. I won't be bringing any kayak this time, just going to try to enjoy throwing a few lures, and soaking a shrimp while the evening fades away. Won't be keeping fish (that i'm thinking now, but I might change my mind when I get there).. If you were in my shoes and only had a couple hours in the evenings, where would you go? Clear Lake? Freeport? north side of Galveston?

Depending on the wind conditions I'd walk in and wade the south shore line of Christmas Bay or San Luis pass. If you've never fished the pass be very careful and stay out of the main tidal areas. You can walk in on the east side and fish the south shoreline of West Galveston.

Or the Surfside Jetty. A few early trout have been caught along the rocks. As Mexico said, Christmas is a good wade.

This front should knock the surf down. Might have a few days where you can go to surfside beach & catch something. Usually lots of big whiting in the surf this time of year. They put up a pretty good fight.

If it works well don't change what you are doing.

This and what Mexican said. Don't over look Quintana jetty. I like the inside where the rocks start just off the parking lot

Anyone slip in the surf yet? We got water temps close to 70 and tad bit of relief from the wind.....
