There are many factor related with the trout populations IMO and the weekend angler is not the main issue. Environmental changes are a big issue and a close 2nd is for the most part a unregulated guide industry. Until those 2 issues are addressed there will not be much change.
These limits will not stop me from fishing because I do not fish for food. The food part of it is a nice bonus but I fish mainly for entertainment and therapy. If I want to get a bunch of fish for the freezer I will pillage lake Conroe for catfish.Last edited by Mayhem; 01-26-2024, 07:37 AM.

Can't run offshore for a couple snapper on the few calm days they have during season and can't catch but a few trout... I can't be the only one going less.

Has there been any improvement to to hunting and fishing with the conservation efforts put forth by TP&W ? Will this really help? If people are catching and releasing them after they catch their limit they still run the chance of mortally wounding a fish. Has the population of flounder increased since they implemented the no fishing for them in November and half December?

If you are a good guide, it is a real job and you work your backside off for doing what you love (that comment hit a cord..as you can tell).
Most full time guides that ended up being busy shifted away from fishing for trout and focused on drum and redfish where guides who have been the area for 30+ years view the opportunity was a way to hit it and quit it. The weekend guides kept going after trout and croaker soaking (there is no way I would pay $1 per bait/croaker) and I do not think that will change.
