If it gets a bunch of part timers off the water and reduces pressure, great. Most weekend warriors couldn't catch 3 anyway. I just wonder what the trophy trout pros will find to blame the decline on now?

I guess I may be in the minority, but I have never been a trophy trout fisherman. I fish for fish to take home and EAT! That's why I pretty much stopped fishing in Texas and focused on Louisiana for the last 25 years or so. What I catch gets eaten and NONE goes to waste. To me it's not worth it to hook up my boat, drive minimum of 2 hours to get to somewhere on the coast to put it in the water, fight the crowds, drive back home, and clean 3 friggin fish! ...well, 6 if I could find trout AND reds... Pretty much put the quietus on me fishing in the salt, and my how I do love it...
And for the record for all those holy "REAL" fishermen on here, I've NEVER used a croaker to fish for trout... Haven't bought a live shrimp in 20 years (well except when I took my grandsons fishing last year with Capt. Glenn... he furnished shrimp for them to fish with... I threw plastic. I do enjoy the fishing part of it and I know how to catch fish on plastic, but I'm not against any legal means to catch 'em. I just prefer to try to fool 'em and I prefer to use the boat to take me to where I want to fish. I like to get out of the boat and wade... Never been much of a "bird chaser"... Oh well, I have some great memories... Dang shame my grandsons will not have a chance to experience the same legally...Last edited by SaltwaterSlick; 01-25-2024, 04:49 PM.

I bet 75% of the folks mad about 3 fish limit have a few bags of freeze burnt fish in the freezer now. I suspect some guides will be impacted negatively. Bait shops gonna suffer, no need for 4 guys to buy 50-100 croaker to catch 9 slot trout.
