I am sure I will get to that point one day...

I am still young and trying to work through my "loaded gun" issues...

Your post reminded me of a lyric (back in the days when we were young, when everything was like a loaded gun, ready to go at it at any minute)

What would you have done at 27?

I wouldn't report him. He is a human being and made a mistake in the heat of protecting/sticking up for his son. Not making excuses but everyone loses his/her cool sometimes, especially when it involves money. He called back and apologized. I don't think he should possibly lose his job over this. You have your money, I don't see what you stand to gain by reporting him.

yeah, I kind of felt bad for them both at that point, and that is why I walked over and looked at the jeep and CONSIDERED taking some and the jeep.

        I was thinking 500 though.

BUT, when I saw the mud, and the kid was a known fib'r. I knew if I asked about it he would probably lie about that to. SO, I went back to my NO answer.

Someone comes in my yard and starts cussing and raising hell at me, It won't last long... I promise you...

Now flipping a badge out, I would have turned around and called in on him right there in front of him.

No, you didn't overreact and yes, he did go overboard and that's the reason LEO's get a bad name. I support the law enforcement 100% but someone that's gonna puff their chest out or one that suffers from short-man's-syndrome looses ALL my respect!

          *edited to add*

Apology or not, him knowing that he was in the wrong, cussing and raising hell, telling your wife it was none of her business and go back inside AND THEN whip out the badge! NO way no how!! He would be getting reported by me. He knew what he was doing or else he wouldn't have done it! PERIOD!!!

I am not going to, I was just more curious what would happen or if I even could have.

Had he not appologized I would probably still be heated about it.

Said NO and went back in the house.. the difference in age for me is in what I would have done IF he had followed me.. at 27 I would have fought him with my fists... at 62 I would shoot him..

I would have socked him in the nose at 27. Now being in my mid 40s I would have said no, have a good day and walked back in my house.

                          you tell me.

he drove it 40+ miles on the highway to my house. in 100 degree weather. with the windows up and the A/C keeping him nice and cold...

its not like they towed it or something. it was DRIVING!

                            Tubby,

My Dad taught me to always leave a man an out, if he chooses not to take it then the consequences are on him..

Nobody is asking for pics of the jeep is because it doesnt matter what it looks like or what condition it is in. They agreed to buy as-is. How much you wanna bet he apologized because he was afraid you would call IA? He knows the rules. He knows he could be unemployed shortly if he didnt placate you.

how I sold it. Minus beer cans and spotlight (I even left the fuzzy dice!) you know what didnt work! was the shocks on the rear gate. Had that CUSTOM made stick in the back to hold it up.

Oh and it was spotless when I sold it! I cleaned the heck out of it.
