Saw it, Liked it. If they could have used the new age technology and put John Wayne in this movie it would have been bad arse.

I don’t understand why many of the movies coming out are remakes of earlier releases. Is it just risk avoidance or is Hollywood out of fresh ideas?

Beleg, I have no issue with you. That said, Parent trap comes to mind. I have seen the original and I look forward to this one. My gal wants to go to another lady's movie and I think I have turned her to the dark side, lol.

Not the best movie I have ever seen but it was good. I'll probably rent it and watch it again when it hits Redbox.

saw it today but like already said you can't replace John Wayne it was pretty good but they should have made it more different from the original seems like probably only 5 min or so of different from original.

Good Movie. But Did You Really Think It Could Compete With The Original?......

Agreed. Why remake an oscar winning performance?

Going tonight. I will be trying to watch it as a stand-alone movie without the comparison, The Duke is The Duke, there was only one of him. No comparing, I'm just going to eat some heart attack food and watch a good western.

Like I said before, we watched the original again the other night to be able to compare.
I really liked that in most all of the important scenes they maintained the script word for word.
The location of scenes were more realistic than the original, but I'm not sure if that added or detracted from the movie.

The actors performed well, and while I don't think Bridges did the part justice, I think that is just me comparing him to the Duke and Bridges doesn't come close.

The girl was great and Damon held his own, I truly think the girl (Haile Steinfeld) did an awesome job and will have a future in movies.

I liked the soundtrack and most of the cinematography, I personally felt they could have left the snake scene out completely!!!!!

It is worth watching in my book, and I agree with a previous post......it was nice to be at a movie without all the sagging pants crowd.
                    X2

thought it was one of the best movies i have seen. Even though it is the same movie it was still very different. love the coen brothers dialogue and wit. Both the old and the new will be favs for me for a long while. I did like the snake scene.

You`re about half right --the little girl was awsome. I thought jeff bridges over acted. You couldn`t understand what he was saying sometimes. Didn`t like the way they changed the ending at all. It just shows the poor quality of writers and actors they have in hollywood now days. If the liberals in hollywood spent as much time and money on making a good quality movie as they do trying to make marijuana legal and gun control , and I won`t even mention their gay agenda----- We would all be better off. I will give them credit for making a western though.

I have seen it 2 times so far and it just gets better, the only thing that could have made it better would have been if John Wayne would have been playing in it again, but the movie itself I think is far better than the original. The new Mattie is awesome! I also like the numerous references to the Bible as well and there was very little bad language in it. I got to ride in the movie as an extra in 4 of the town scenes so that may make me a little partial too, LOL.

tpack, the ending goes along with the way the book ended, the original movie ending didn't go along with the book.

Denton, I was going to ask did you show up in the movie? I know when the thread started you said you'd fond out once it was in theaters.

Well I don`t like the way the book ended either. LOL. At least I`m consistant. I hope they don`t do a remake of anymore of his movies. The link below has the original ending I like.

Russ81, yes, all four scenes showed up, just have to look real fast! I only saw 2 the first time I saw the movie and then Christmas all my family went to see it and then I saw the other two scenes. It was fun, my youngest daughter, which is 7, got upset in the cabin scene, she couldn’t understand it was fake when she had just seen me on the film a few minutes earlier, but she was ok with it the second time.

                                tpack, that's a classic!
