all u can hope is she goes in peace and just make her as comfortable as possible and spend as much time as u can with her. I dread this day with my 1.5 year old lab whenever it comes.

Sad night for me as I just buried the big yellow dog 'Freckles' in my avatar.
Reading this thread just hit me hard.
I hope it's easier for you.

sorry to hear, i had a dog that started going downhill this summer, stopped eating and then started hiding in the back part of the yard. took her to the vet and found out she had fluid all throughout her abdomen. we got her some soft food and she started to eat a little and get her energy back. we found her in the yard about a week after taking her to the vet. it was really hard to let her go cause she was only 6. i'm glad that i didn't have to make the decision. i dont think i could have.

She's a beautiful dog and it sounds like she is a lucky one too, for having such a great life and family.
Treasure the time you have left with her. Try to find comfort that when it is time, she wont be hurting anymore.
And hard as it is, know that seeing it coming is a little easier than a sudden, unexpected loss...

Man oh man. I wish you and her the best. Tough indeed. She deserves the rest and sounds like she lived a great life. My choc is 8 and I am not looking foward to these days.

Beautiful girl there. It is alays hard to see them go, but you have the memories of a lifetime with her to cherish and lots of pictures. Try and be with her as much as you can. I know you will.

went thru the same thing back in 99. my old black lab made it to 14. Loosin him was harder than loosin any of my ex wives. Have not had another dog since cause it hurt too much. I did get another wife tho.
