Now what ammo I want to get? I'm wanting at least 120g for deer/hogs. Don't want any fmj steel plinking junk.

This gun will be sighted in and put in the safe. Will only be used for hunting.

Looking for cheapest hunting/sp ammo available. Not entering any LR contests, just needs to be snuff can accurate at 100 yds.

Is hunting ammo offered in bulk?
Would like to have at least 200 rds for starters, in case I get into a wad of swine!
right now, it's almost....take what you can find.

I’ve been buying quite a bit of Hornady 123 SSTs for $29.99-30.99 here lately. Mainly at Gebo’s and a couple LGSs. My stockpile from when they were $18 a box is finally getting pretty low.

I like the 123 SSTs and handload them. They don't seem to blow up at the 6.5G speeds. I have used them on pigs and deer with only 1 shot kills. If you can find the Hornady custom ammo, that's what I'd recommend for around $30 a box

Hornady Black 6.5 Grendel 123gr ELD Match Rifle Ammo.

Does "Match" mean strictly for target practice or still good for hunting?

Found these listed above at $32 a box.

They will work just fine for hunting.

This^. OP - if you end up playing with another round I would highly suggest the .300 HAMR by Wilson Combat. I have a Grendel, 223 and a HAMR and the Grendel and .223 hardly ever come out the safe. I've killed deer, hogs and an auodad with it. Just an all around great round out to about 150 yards.

Know 0 bout 6.8 SPC (or 6.5G for that matter - just looks like it'd do).
Had an sks once. It'd do. 350L sounds good.

Which of those can I just do the 2 pin deal and swap out?
.223 and 5.56 both will kill Hogs and Deer which are the biggest game we have in Texas. Your Ammo Type and shot placement are big factors.

I think you should give this caliber a chance.

And part of the reason I bought the 223 was to kneecap zombies and towel head terrorists, so I might should keep it, lol.
Lot of caliber choices with the AR-10 platform. However, it will be a lot heavier that the AR-15.

I second the Grendel. I have put several deer and pigs down with my Grendel.

I've owned .223's for 25 years. I'm familiar with them. Owned .243s same amount of time. Don't like them either, lol.

                            My .25-06s are borderline.

I think Ruger is making a new AR15 in .308 that’s much lighter than an AR10, like a couple pounds lighter. I see them advertising but I don’t know if they are on the shelves yet.
