    Replacing AR15 .223 ?

    Go easy on me, lol.

I hate the caliber. Only bought it cause everyone has one. Owned it 10+ years and prob shot 200 rds at beer cans.

I know little to 0 bout ARs.

Easier to sell and replace w another caliber or bust it apart and change whatever to a diff round ?

    6.5G or similar.

    Thanks, D.

You can swap the barrel and bolt and make it a Grendel .

Buy a new upper in a different caliber. 6.5 Grendel, 350 Legend, 300 BO.... it is endless what you can do. For lower end uppers look at Bear Creek Arsenal, Davidson Defense or Delta Team Tactical. Two pins and you have a new caliber. May have to purchase a new magazine for some calibers though.

Get another complete upper in the ar15 compatible caliber of your choice. I do love my grendel. My son has a 224 valkerie and a 450 bushmaster. I still shoot me 5.56 a lot at hogs and neck shots on does and spikes and coyotes.

I changed two of mine to 6.8 SPC. That little round performs beyond expectations. Federal Fusion is very accurate in both of mine.

Depending on what you want to do, do you want to buy a new rifle or do you want to buy a new upper.
You can sell the whole rifle and replace it or sell the upper and replace it.
6.5G upper will fit onto your lower or 6.8 or whatever caliber in AR15 you decide.

Love my 6.8 SPC when I want more punch but wouldn’t want to be without a 223.

And this supports the advice to buy a complete upper so you can switch between them on your lower.

Other wise buy a barrel, bolt and some mags and swap it out.

If I'd ever quit finding other stuff to buy I'm gonna get a 7.62x39 and a 6mm ARC upper. And eventually a .204 Ruger upper since I have too many .223's as it is.

                I'd say if you're wanting a plinker get a 7.62x39. Big game 6mm ARC. Varmints a .224 Valkyrie or .204 Ruger.

I have a grendel and reload for it
Reloading components are expensive and difficult to find. Factory ammo is in that same boat with very limited hunting bullet selection. I just bought a 7.62x39 and plan on shooting steel case, I'll pull the fmjs and swap with 123gr sst's for cheap hunting ammo.

I want something that will kill critters bigger than a squirrel, lol.

Know 0 bout 6.8 SPC (or 6.5G for that matter - just looks like it'd do).
Had an sks once. It'd do. 350L sounds good.

Which of those can I just do the 2 pin deal and swap out?

This would be mainly for hogs.

I just built a 350 Legend. Love it. Ballistics similar to 30-30. Varying range of factory ammo loads readily available. And it is two pins, but a new magazine for the 350 legend.

Dont sell the 223/5.56 short though. It has it's place in the arsenal. I have shot plenty of critters bigger than squirrels with it.

I've had one for 10 years and kind of in the same boat. I've shot it basically 3 times at the range and developed some really good loads for it... can't say I've done anything other than that.... thinking about taking it on a pig hunt next month but still haven't decided.

I have a .222 for rats, rabbits, and squirrels. And a .22-250 for coon size critters.
                            .25-06 for yotes & cats.
.30-30 and .270 for deer and hogs.

I'm familiar w/.223 and have shot different critters w one. Just not my cup of tea.
If I'm going semi-auto into a wad of swine, I want bigger.

I say all this while pretty much strictly bowhunting the last 20+ years, lol.
