    Replacing AR15 .223 ?

Know 0 bout 6.8 SPC (or 6.5G for that matter - just looks like it'd do).
Had an sks once. It'd do. 350L sounds good.

Which of those can I just do the 2 pin deal and swap out?

First off a 5.56 will kill anything walking in Texas, not just squirrels.

To answer your question all uppers are literally just a 2 pin swap.

However every other cartridge other than 300 blackout and 458 Socom with limited capacity will require new mags.

If you need good factory ammo support as much as I hate to say it you need to be looking at 6ARC.

Another option if hogs is your main game then get a 450 Bushmaster upper.

If you reload, try the 6x45. Since I reload and have a .243 already, the swap was easy. Picked up tons of brass at the range, resized, added powder, a new primer and a 6mm 85-gr bullet. Accurate and more oomph on hogs and deer. All that's needed is a barrel swap. I bought a White Oak one. Midway used to have an AR Stoner for less but they are discontinued. My only issue is my fear of shooting a 6x45 on my .223 AR. To fix that, I sold my .223.

get a .458socom if you want something bigger. Just buy a complete upper and new buffer spring and you'll be sending 300gr pills into anything you want

I barely shoot guns at all so I don't reload.
And Lord I'd hate to think a .223 was the only round available to hunt everything in TX, lol. I'd prob just chunk rocks.

Sounds like you have issue with bullet selection or shot placement or both in your 223 experience

Did anybody mention buying a complete upper and just switching back and forth?
I love my Bison 6.8 SPC. You'd be great with the 6.5 G also I'm sure.

              .25-06 for yotes & cats.
.30-30 and .270 for deer and hogs.

I'm familiar w/.223 and have shot different critters w one. Just not my cup of tea.
If I'm going semi-auto into a wad of swine, I want bigger.

I say all this while pretty much strictly bowhunting the last 20+ years, lol.
You sir would love an AR10 in 308. Then you can keep your .223 in-tact for zombie apocalypse or whatever.

edit: I'm perfectly comfortable shooting Texas deer or anything else here with a good .223 projectile. Having said that, I have the option to have a deer-specific rifle and not have to hunt everything with an AR so I opted for a more common caliber for stuff like that.

458 Socom, since you don't like itty bitty bullets! Awesome hog stomper and ill hammer deer and nearly anything else you point it at.....

I only read of its bullet performance, but scanning the ammo available at wally world today…..
Plenty of 350 Legend to choose from. Boxes and boxes.

That was it as far as 223 alternatives go.

I’ve seen the same at Academy recently as well.

Agreed. I've seen a LOT of animals die from a .223.

But, if you want something other than .223, either 6 ARC or 6.5 Grendel is the way to go.

                        Why do you hate it?
                        I one-shot-stopped a 300-ish pound boar with my little .223.
I've probably killed close to 50 with it.
Longest kill was 214 yards on about a 200lb. sow.
55 grain bullets at first, then started hand loading 73gr ELDMs.

BTW, you can buy Hornady factory ammo w/73gr ELDMs.
If you want a new gun, just get one.

Ethans in double digits on deer and pigs w xbow & compound. NOTHING with a gun yet. But I just bought him a .25-06.

But I think that Grendel or SPC would be a "choice" round !

And part of the reason I bought the 223 was to kneecap zombies and towel head terrorists, so I might should keep it, lol.

Gonna check ballistics vs 450 BM.
