[QUOTE=Mayhem;16558489]Browning BLR. They chamber almost every caliber imaginable.

    I like the .243 and 7-08.

I have one in .270! Bought it because I had never seen one in lever and I shoot an A Bolt in 270.

Winchester 1887 in 12 gauge with 00 buckshot.

Might take 5 minutes to get it out of the truck but it will kill stuff dead.
      I like it.

OP, just pick a caliber. They’ll all do just fine for what you’re wanting. None of the “traditional” cartridges are very long range capable.

I don't know first hand, but I've heard quite a few won't handle the specials real well.

          1. finding that might be like finding 45Colt.

I'll say it, the 30-30. Normally easy to find ammo (pre-Covid), moderate recoil, but plenty of oomph to take down deer, hogs, or coyotes.

I like old stuff. 45 LC is just classic. Like double barrel shotguns, six shooters, and lever guns. I don’t need the best possible round I just need to know how it shoots and where to aim.

The only center fire lever actions I have any desire for are a 16" barreled, 1960s or 1970s Winchester 94 in 44 Mag., a 1980s Winchester 94 in 375 Win., then probably a Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70.
For what you are wanting to do, a common 30-30 would be a good choice, so would a 375 Win., or even a 44 Mag. I would almost put the 375 Win. at the top of the list for what you are wanting. The one reason I would not, is finding ammo for the gun. 375 Win. ammo is hard to find now days, 30-30 ammo, is not near as easy to find now days, as it was 30 years ago.

[QUOTE=jerp;16558626]One criteria of a truck gun for me is not having to worry about it getting banged around, dusty, wet or dirty. (it basically lives on the front of my 4 wheeler) I have enjoyed my Henry All-Weather in 30-30. Stock looks synthetic but it is wood. They now make it with side-gate loading

You're gonna shoot it out the window? Probably nothin that's gonna come back and knock the crap out of you then. .357,.44mag,45LC,30-30 or even a lever action in .243 or 22-250.

How about a .41 mag ? I love my Henry .41 mag. Also have a 44 mag Win. and it shoots really nice.
Word of caution, once you buy one you want more.
We have lever actions form 17 HMR to 454 Casull, including 30-30 and 32 special.

BLRs have a detachable mag which is nice but get a spare. I have a 270 wsm and it shoots really nice but not a gun I knock around, it's too pretty .
