You can’t separate the 2.
I could still hunt and defend my house with bolt guns/shotguns/short guns…but I much prefer to hunt pigs with an AR, and that’s all the need required.

What makes you think you’d get choice sirloin? That’s not how this works…when you bend over and be told you can’t have ribeye, you don’t have any say anymore. You get the leftover burger meat, or maybe something cheaper like soy…it’s not your call…you already cowered.

My entire reason this came up is that I was thinking back to the 80’s-2000’s. My dad was a big gun guy, collector, gun smith and shooter. At best we might have shot an M1 carbine or a mini 14 but he never owned many thru the yrs. But now how many people since 20004 have bought an AR?? What has changed beside the fact that they are cool and someone trying to take them away again.

My question was in context to YOUR training as you are trying to state what is practical devil’s advocate or otherwise. I would argue you have little idea of what is practical in a gun fight. Im bringing overwhelming firepower. Im gonna have breakfast with my family that morning and he/they aint.
The bigger argument is a tyrannical govt. Talking about homegrown. Thats what the 2A and the right to own HC automatic rifles is about. An invasion from Russia or China is someone trying to frame an argument against gun rights in their favor through the use of logical fallacy.

No one shot up a school back then and every redneck kid had much more powerful guns than 5 56 in the back window of an unlocked truck. I don't know why some "need" me to justify why I like evil black rifles and why I "need" their permission to own one. Had I been old enough prior to 04 I for sure would have an AR. They're just too dang handy and fun. Anti gunners "need" to pound sand as far as I'm concerned.

I didnt own one prior to 2004 because i was 10. But as soon as i became of age i bought one and have had one ever since. Its is an extremely effective tool thats why the military uses it for CQB and they dont use shotguns.
The point of owning one isnt for hunting or for your average home break in although the do the job well. The purpose of owning them is because the government isnt supposed to have the monopoly on death and destruction. They are there too keep the gov in check. To keep ourself truly free from of tyranny. The founding father pur the 2A in the constitution for the sole purpose of defending it from enemies foreign and DOMESTIC, which includes our own government. Theres a reason Benjamin Franklin said that we have "A Republic, if you can keep it."

I bought one as soon as I could! (I was 15 in 1994)
How much would your life change if you could only own single shot rifles and shotguns?
It’s all or nothing, dude. I understand where you’re trying to go with this, but it’s bad logic, if it’s logic at all.

I just got to thinking about the AR and how it really hasn’t been that big of a deal for very long. And there has been mass killings before and after yet the AR is the soap box for the pro 2A and the anti gun people. I just have like warm feelings about the gun myself.
It isn’t the soapbox for the pro 2a folks but most certainly is for they anti 2a folks. They have convinced the ignorant general population that the AR is a big scary military weapon and it needs to be restricted so mass killings will go away. They are using this falsehood to make an attempt at limiting the 2a. That is why the AR has become the soapbox as you put it.
