My buddy's dad one time insisted that we try his old H&R single shot 10 gauge. He put in light shot load for my buddy since he went first, then put in a 2oz slug for me. My hand tingled for an hour.

They're all magnum shooters, but for me anything above .30-06 is pushing it.

Went to Naval gunfire support training in Long Beach California. Graduated and proceeded to shoot this SOB for 2 years. 9 mile shots to San Clemente Island - firing on marked targets (Marines on the Island popped smoke), towed aerial targets behind jets and towed target barges behind sea tugs.

After a few days of gunnery practice......absolutely beat to hell. The concussion, sitting to the right side of this 5" gun, flinging 50lb projectiles with a 70lb gunpowder charge was brutal.

Teeth rattled, body concussion, headache and blurry vision from the shock at recoil, looking through the two eyed scope. Blew out light bulbs, rattled and vibrated the entire ship....louder than HELL!

      I miss this SOB!

60 mm mortar in handheld mode that was sitting on soft desert sand. Ouch.

I haven't shot a gun that hurt since I was a kid. Back then, any 12 gauge. Biggest gun I shoot now is a 300 win mag.

Ruger 338 win mag in the old zytel all weather skeleton stick. I'm not recoil sensitive at all, but that freakin gun was brutal. I've shot 375's, 378's, 416's, and 458's and nine of them recoiled like that gun. That **** thing would vibrate every bone in your body.....

Old side by side 12 ga with double triggers. Pulled them both at the same time with 00 buck loads. Nevah again.

That was my first larger than .22 rifle to shoot as a kid. Totally agree.

I agree! Briefly had a Marlin 30-30. Worst recoil I've ever felt.
Worse than my 12 gauge (no recoil pad) or any .270 I've fired.
I even bought some reduced recoil ammo for it and still didn't enjoy shooting it.

Is that a Buffalo Bill commemorative? I used to have one like that. whish I still had it!

My worst recoil was my first Hoyt bow!!! (Just kidding!)

I had a Remington 700 7mm mag that I hated to shoot at the range, but, of course, when shooting at an elk the recoil was never felt.

I've never shot anything that made me not want to shoot. But if I had to pick the worst recoil, I'd have to agree with the 454 casull.
