Years ago I bought a weatherby vanguard .30-06 and consistently shot sub moa with it. I used it to kill many animals and always kept it clean. I bought a .308 savage which became my go-to gun and after getting used to the accutrigger, and noticing some accuracy issues with the weatherby I consistently shoot 2" groups with weatherby now.
I have a couple questions: 1) what is the barrel life on these and what is a preferred replacement? 2) The trigger is super heavy, so what is a preferred replacement?
I miss the days of feeling dead on and taking head shots without concern with this gun. I once killed three hogs, a doe, and a coyote with head shots in the same day. Now, I wouldn't feel comfortable taking a head shot with this gun. I did test the scope and make sure everything is tight.
A couple pics of its handiwork.
