Thanks for the info. I may reach out to him on another project I'm looking at too. What's his SN?

My 270 like the 130 grain American whitetail. I like them too cause they are on the cheaper side.

                Off of HCR website.
Read line 6 of "How we do it"

That pressure point has to go. It made a world of difference on all of mine. I'm not sure why Weatherby did that.

Personally, I've seen free floating fail to increase accuracy and pressure bedding it afterwards fix it. Free floating the barrel absolutely helps most of the time but not all the time.

On the Weatherby chamberings (300wby, 257wby, ...etc) in the Mark V action I think they are useful. They help dampen the extra vibration the bullet creates in the barrel when it jumps the freebore in the chamber. There is too much freebore to seat the bullets out to the lands in Weatherby chamberings. So you have to deal with that "jump" impact into the lands somehow. Otherwise your barrel acts like a tuning fork smacked on the end with a hammer every time you pull the trigger. Pressure bedding calms that down.

To the O.P. in a Vanguard with a standard chambering (ie. 30-06) I don't see any need for pressure bedding.
