    I'm thinking two dedicated uppers...one shorty 300 & another sub 16" in 6.8.

I'll shoot more super & want it for hunting...still not sure & reviewing bbl options. Can should arrive around Christmas so time to start planning.

I see no reason for a 16" sub gun (unless it's a very accurate .22 ) but will likely end up with a dedicated 300 AR upper for the heavier 200+ pills.

    1000fps is 1000fps...just more thud.

I agree with the others and say I will be shooting all subs just because that’s the only reason to own a 300 BO. I will probably build a 8" 300 BO upper one of these days but for now I see no need for it. Follow up shot will be a little quicker with a semi vs a bolt gun but the pigs still run off after the first shot anyways. I shot a pig Tuesday night with a sub sonic 22 lr and they still ran like hell and that gun is almost movie quiet....

You kill that pig with the 22? Subsonic 22 or supers? yardage? I've thought about trying this....

Nope.....I hit it low in the snout instead of in the brain area. I was shooting Subs and it was at about 40 yards. I was messing around with the 22 lr subs yesterday and they would go completely through a 3/4" piece of plywood out to 75 yards(didn't try any further). I'm thinking that if it goes through the plywood it will work on a head shot.

Yup the 22 subs are deadly at close range. Out to 300 yards they will kill pdogs with the proper bullet placement. After that you need a couple shots to finish them off.

I run them exclusively through a suppressed ruger 77/22 topped with a Mark AR 6-18x40. Here's two different drop charts I've completed for shooting p dogs on the fly on 18x:

            Bar
            4 dot
            3 dot 105 yards 55
            2 dot 115 yards 75
            1 dot 130 yards 90
            Crosshair 150 100
            1 dot 170 yards 130
            2 dot 200 yards 160
            3 dot 230 yards 190
            4 dot 260 yards 225
            Bar

After that you have to eyeball distances down the fat part of the reticle. Or turn the magnification down to keep p dogs in the scope after 385 or so. And then wind is a huge factor.

But at 100 its no big deal staying on targets the size of a birds head.

Wow...Would have never expected that much range out of a 22 lr sub...

Curiuos if you have had a chance to try these yet and if you ran them through an AR did it cycle?

I'm also curious about the 187 gr gem Tec.. Predator round.

Found em in stock, but not sure if going down in grains is going to help in my quest.

                  Anybody shot them yet?

Anybody want to trade for some Hornady 208 gr Amax? I have a lot of it just setting.

I went ahead and bought some of the Gemtech stuff and have it in hand now. I will be testing it out this week.

It looks like this has become our offical 300 BO thread so....

Is there any reason I should put a ballistic reticle like one of the Rapid Z reticles on my 300? I can't see ever shooting past 200, 300 tops. Plus it's sa not a bolt gun. What are scopes/reticles/turrets are y'all using? I am ready to buy glass just not sure what I should get.

Hurry up and find it so I can follow your lead.

Bringing this back to life instead of starting a new thread. Some good info in here but wondering if anyone has some new data? I need to start loading up subs for my SBR. Like many of you I want to be exclusively subsonic and mainly for pigs at close range. Thanks.

Not really new load data, but kind of inline with Coach's thoughts above about finding an effective sub load for pigs. My hopes for this round pretty much mirror his. We have some of the G2 Research "Trident" rounds inbound to do some testing and see if they may be the answer. If they work out, they should be alot cheaper than the Lehigh Defense alternative.
