I haven't had the time to handload for my subsonic .308 yet

Getting them to be subsonic isn't a problem. Having a bullet that will preform is.
I've run three projectiles at this point. 208 AMAX, 220 OTM, and the 220 HPBT.
Out to 50- 75 yards they preform great. Dead animals everywhere. But soon after 75 they drop off in effectiveness and speed. Between 75 and 100 yards they drop on average 9" and the groups start to open up. I'd be interested to know the speed at 100 yards because it's gotta be SLOW.
At this point it's a crap shoot. If you hit shoulder, rib, or even skull you just poked a pig, ****** it off and have it headed for the hills. I'm in the double digits of pigs I've hit and not recovered and it's only been 10-12 months since I started out looking for an effective round. For the most part these pigs don't die...
Seriously, You should see my trail cam pics it's like a pig war zone, lumps, limps and bullet holes on all of them. I've yet to find proper bullet placement on a pig that will drop them DRT out past 75 yards, neck to behind the shoulder, I even hit one high shoulder hoping to break its shoulder blades... Negative. Smaller animals are no problem, turkey's, prairie dogs, go down in a heap, but pigs are tough as we all know. The small pigs go down easier, but the big bores with armor plating shoulders and 3" of gristle.. Good luck.
I'm about to try some different projectiles as this is getting old. I'm out to kill them not hurt em. I think next will be the Lehigh defense rounds, even though they are pricey it will be worth it if they work. (If any body has a below average price sourced on those rounds hit me up).
And before anybody (Matt) says it.... I'm not shooting supersonic rounds in my blk... If I was wanting to supress a supersonic round I'd slap the suppressor on the 223, or buy one for my magnums make it hearing safe, and get in the woods.
I'm strictly looking for an effective subsonic killer.

Personally, I don't care if there are subsonic. I'll shoot supersonic with my SDN6 and take em out. Subsonic buys you nothing really once you start shooting. They hear subsonics just as much as suppressed supersonics and start running. My buddy and I differ but that's my preference.

I ordered some Gemtech 187 grain subsonics. I haven't tried them yet but the guy from Gemtech says their good for hogs. I've gone back and fourth with a buddy of mine about subsonics. He killed two deer last year with them and he did find them but they were complete pass throughs. I would almost say you have to chrono your results with different bullets. Try the Gemtech if you can get your hands on them or wait until the newer bullets come about that should be good for subsonics. I just dont' think there's a happy spot right now.
