I killed my first two nice bucks with a 22-250 and dropped them both in there tracks! One of my favorite rounds. One of my buddies just bought one for his son and put a muzzle brake on it, I would compare the recoil to a .17. Awesome kid gun!

Yep, my .25-06 kills too. Super fast, a little bit bigger bullet that is proper for the game I am hunting, and not a varmint round.

I love it. Congrats to your son on the kill.

My son has the browning micro hunter in 22-250. I like the round so much just picked up a rem 788 in 22-250 for myself.

You'll always have those that doubt a certain caliber.
Those are sweet shooting little guns for sure!

Shot placement is correct! I would much rather have a kid place a good shot with a small cal rifle then a bad shot with a rifle that they are scared of.

I have liquified many a lung with a 22-250. Little 55 grain HP goes off like a bomb in the chest cavity.

All I have is SST's. Killed a couple does last year with them, but no exit/no blood trail. After reading your thread, I just picked up a couple boxes of the PSP's for my .220 Swift. I'll keep them on hand just in case!

congrats to your son on the first of many.

personally, i don't care for small calibers. if you knock em down or watch em fall, the small calibers are fine. but if its a marginal shot or no exit wound and the deer runs, thats when the headaches start. i like a bullet that is gonna make an animal leak...ALOT.

I have absolutely no doubt that this is due to a funky camera angle, but all three of those deer look to be about the size of a Cocker Spaniel!

                            Is it just me?

                            Congrats on the bucks!!

I saw that as well Sneaky. It truly has to be the angle. Killed a mature doe one evening and had it laying on the ground kinda curled up waiting on its turn on the skinning tree. My Bride walks out to see it and says, "that deer is no bigger than Trapper." Trapper is our yellow lab. My kids began to make fun. Hung the deer up brought her back out and she says, "that looks a little better." Ha 4.5 yr old doe to. About 100 pounds.

Btw, as to original poster. Love my 22-250. Killed a bunch of deer with it. Was shooting Bt's to the head and neck but switched over to hollow points for kids to use on shoulder shots. Works great.

They appear to all be field dressed, making them look drawn up and skinny.

I have killed many a deer with my little 22-250 over the years, including several of the deer on my wall. If you put a capable shooter behind one they perform lights out.
