Berger's are freaking awesome. Period. End of discussion.

They emit massive hydrostatic shock and that is their design. I've never had anything take a step from them from 80-425 yards. I am going to attempt to stretch one out to 800+ later this year

Is anyone other than HSM loading these bullets ?

And, does anyone have experience with these out of a 300wsm Winchester model 70 shadow.

My experience with factory loaded berger bullets is they do not shoot very well due to the fact that they are designs to be on the lands or very close to them. Normally the only way that happens is by handloading for that gun.

Agreed hand loads are required for top accuracy but the HSM's shoot as well as any other factory bullet in both my 300 RUM and 7 mm

I've had very good accuracy and performance out of the HSM trophy gold ammo in my 6.5–284 my 308 and my 257 Weatherby.

I expected good things. Guess the few rifles I ran em in were just deep

It would be nice to just buy some ready to roll that shot good. Glad they worked for y'all!!

X2 on the 257 weatherby in a vanguard rifle and with good accuracy in both of my 270's one a sendero and other a browning a bolt.

Referring to Berger's needing to be touching the lands or slightly off.
I have heard this over and over again but I have not experienced this. I load for 5 different people that have factory guns that are very limited because of magazine length and all shoot the Berger's extremely well and they are all 50 thousandths or a little over off of the lands. One guy has a factory Browning A-Bolt 300wsm that shoots less than 1/4". I have heard good things about the HSM ammo but I have not experienced anything overly impressive with it. Best of The West sells some custom ammo that is as good as anything you can handload in most guns. What do I consider extremely well? Less than 1/2" in factory guns and 1/4" in custom.

I've got a .224/6mm with 1:8 twist barrel. Killed a lot of stuff out to 611 yards. Lots of big hogs shot with the 80grain VLD target bullet at 3550 fps. Almost never find an exit wound, and a lot of big hogs in the tracks where they were standing when I shot. Don't even find an entrance hole a lot of time on the muddy rascals. Shoot them out of 300 RUM too. My biggest disappointment was the 300 grainers wouldn't stabilize out of my lapua. 1:10 twist. Guess you need 1:9.5. I got about 300 300 grain hybrid vld in .338 if anyone is interested

I guess when they die in the tracks they are standing in you don't need a blood trail or any tracking skills. 115 gr VLD 3100fps 60yds. So much for the internet rumors that Bergers' are only good long range bullets.
All a "failure to exit" in that situation means is that all the evergy was dumped right where it needed to be.

I have tried it in numerous rifles. They wouldnt get under 3/4" unless they were close. Every gun is different and its always worth a try!!

That'll teach you to buy those rifles with weird tight neck chambers.

Nope. There is no energy transfer/dump, etc.

The bullet had energy when it hit so where did that energy go?

Congrats, my 25-06 killed 10 deer with the vld last year some ran some didn't(high shoulder/spine) but after my pronghorn and having two shots blew up on impact from my 257wby I'm done. No point in having to second guess a bullet. Back to the 80gr ttsx's for me.
