One of the reasons I started shooting them was the groups I got. In my 257wby they are 5 shot 1/2" groups.

If you want to spend some coin, but get really well done ammo. Check out Gunwerks.

    Great long range yote rounds

I'd love to hear the reasoning behind that statement.

Energy is neither created or destroyed. It is simply transferred. Doesn't matter if you're talking about a nuclear reactor or a tiny little piece of lead.

The animal absorbs it. It doesnt give the animal energy to run and jump away though. The bullet gives its energy in a very bad unhealthy way in the form of liquified internals. When vital organs look like they were ran through a blender and poured back into the animal, it probably isnt going far.

Lol. Haven't tried them in that rifle. Wouldn't chamber anyway.

If you ever make a bad shot and hit bone first, you will wish you had a Barnes tsx/ttsx.

TTSX is super accurate for me but we have killed several deer and hogs with this bullet in both 270 & 7-08 and every single one has run at least 50 yards with good broadside lunge shots.

The exact reason I'll never shoot another Berger. They were ahead of the game for a short period of time. Plenty of better performing bullets with close to the same ballistic coefficient nowadays. You can shoot a FMJ and kill animals with perfect shot placement. It's the shots that done go exactly as planned where you see the difference.

Every deer I have every shot including vld ran or walked after a lung hit. Only way to insure it flops is high shoulder, neck/shoulder crease, neck...etc= spine shot.

Vld is an extremely accurate bullet when loaded right, but its not a magic pill, at long ranges its designed to open at lower velocities then a bonded or monolithic bullet, that's it other then an high BC.

I love VLD, Ive had nothing but great luck with them. Conversely, I have had sparse blood trails with TTSX's. YMMV

I love the VLD's and choose them over Barnes for thin-skinned game.

Key to ttsx is run them light and hot.

I like the Barnes bullets too but I have not had any worse performance on bone hits with the Bergers than any other cup/core style bullet.

No they will not hold up as well as a copper monolithic or maybe even a bonded/partition type bullet but they have done extremely well for me over the years.

Not all rifles will shoot Barnes bullets well.

Nor will all rifles like VLDs, but there are more factory OTC offerings for barnes then berger

I'll agree with there being more factory offerings with Barnes bullets.

I think a lot of you are forgetting the main reason Berger is around. Accuracy.... I was hesitant about them but after using them I haven't found anything for my rifle as good for long range targets and hunting. Accubonds came close but past 800 wouldn't perform. I won't ever claim they are the toughest bullet but I'd rather have a bullet I know will hit where I'm aiming every time vs a super tough bullet lacking a good BC

Just for my own curiosity how many animals have you shot past 800 yards?
