Why the run on 22lr ammo??

I bought 2500 rounds of .22lr from sportsmanguide last night for $105 shipped....back ordered until middle of Feb. If I could only find a extra magazine for my 15-22....I ordered a few from sportsmanguide but don't expect them to ever be delivered. I think it was a ploy by them to get my $30 membership as they aren't expecting to ship the mags until May...Obama will probably outlaw them before then. The mags were selling for near $100 last night on ebay and gunbroker . Might have to try and trade a 223 mag for one in the future if I can't find one or two....

I never have but I've heard from multiple people on here that they shoot a doe in the head with a 22. I'm sure it's done more than you think.

Several reasons in my book. Everyone has .22's. They are cheap to shoot. If ammo supply becomes an issue you are going to use a .22 whenever possible to avoid using a .223, .308 or what have you. You are going to use the .22 if you can as it is less likely to attract attention. You cannot reload rimfire, so there is no alternative to store bought. People who cannot afford to buy .45, .223 or .308 by the 1000 can still afford to buy thousands of .22 and it is better than nothing. Cumulatively there are many reasons to have LOTS of .22 rimfire on hand.

Funny how this energy of those you talk to works on your own psyche. I didn't have a ton of .22lr but once people started talking shortage I instinctively began buying more.

The hard part is stopping when you know you have enough. Wait, how much is enough...? I better go to Academy and pick up another box.

In a crisis situation: Everyone has a .22 and ammo. So you can find them. You can put hundreds of rounds in your pocket and still be mobile. It's quiet compared to other rounds. Men, women, and children can shoot them!

Dont everyone run out and buy 22lr if you dont need it. Stock up when the sky is not falling. Its not fair to the folks that actually need it.
