my wife accidentally bought some whole wheat saltines. I tried a batch with them....not as good as the starchy white saltines, but still tasty....he-he-he
Saltyag00 thats funny, my wife has done that twice. The boxes look just alike. We have wondered what the wheat crackers would taste like with this recipe.
On your recipe you call for 'pepper flakes'. What kind of pepper flakes do you use for your recipe? We use ground cayenne red pepper, not exactly what I call 'flakes'. Is there a better pepper to use?
The red pepper flakes are the crushed red pepper flakes. They are like what is in the shakers at the pizza joints. Is your ground cayenne more like a powder? I bet that is good also. Might have to try mixing the two.

Yeah, the last several batches (we've been making them constantly since I picked up on this thread) we made with ground pepper. I'll have to try the pepper flakes next time, but the powder isn't bad
Ive had several different versions of these, all of which were good, but I stepped it up a notch and tried these today.
2 sleeves of Premium crackers
1 package ranch dip mix
1 tsp chicken bullion
3 T red pepper flakes
1/2 C canola oil
Mix em up in a big bowl and stir every now and then till the oil soaks in. These are saltier and hotter than the other ones, but thats how I like em. Enjoy.
